It’s not uncommon in the Central Minnesota lakes region for us to get calls about sinking decks. The soils in our area can be challenging, and traditional concrete pier footings often fail over time. Even when footings are below the frost line, they can still heave but more often, they sink.

Over the years, we’ve repaired many decks with footing issues. But this one was different.
This deck had sunk nearly a full foot in some areas. The framing was twisted from uneven settlement, and with almost 12 inches of movement, many wondered whether it could even be saved.

After a careful inspection, our team determined that most of the deck structure had been built correctly. The problem was that the footings had failed and sunk into the ground.

The experts at Stryhn carefully jacked the deck back to level, inspected the structure for safety, and confirmed it was sound enough to proceed. We then installed a new 12-inch beam supported by Diamond Pier engineered footings, creating a long-term solution designed to prevent the deck from sinking again.

Our skilled carpenters were able to save this massive deck from demolition and saved our client tens of thousands of dollars by avoiding a complete replacement.

Check out the before and after photos!

Have a deck that’s sinking, uneven, or pulling away from the house? Give the experts at Stryhn a call. We can inspect it, explain your options, and help you determine whether it can be repaired before replacement becomes necessary.

It’s time to saddle up our horses and head down the trail to our next big project 🤠

Today marked our punch list meeting at the Lakeside Apartments in Ortonville, MN, and what a way to wrap up a job. After nearly (6) months of work surgically replacing plumbing stacks throughout all (42) units and renovating a significant portion of the building as we put things back together we walked away with just two small items on the punch list.

Couldn’t be more proud of our team at Stryhn, LLC. This project took precision, patience, and a lot of coordination, and the result speaks for itself.

A huge shoutout to our project superintendent Curt for his steady leadership and the relationships he built along the way. Not just with the owners, architects, and engineers, but with every single tenant in the building. That kind of trust doesn’t just happen.

We’re incredibly grateful to the tenants for their patience and understanding through all the disruptions. The cookies, treats, and countless conversations didn’t go unnoticed. Those moments meant a lot to our crew!

Special thanks to:

On to the next one.

Demolition officially kicked off today in Glenwood for a new 8,400 sq ft large tire center for Brownie’s Tire. Designed by Studio E Architects out of Glenwood, this facility is being purpose built to serve the heavy hitters like semi tractors and trailers, agricultural equipment, construction machinery, and anything else rolling on large tires.

Stryhn, LLC is proud to serve as the General Contractor on this project, working with our project partner Joe Riley Construction of Morris, who is completing the site work and civil scope. The project begins with demolition of the existing structure, followed by excavation and soil corrections to replace unsuitable soils and establish a stable foundation base.

Once soil corrections are complete, the site will be tested and monitored through a 30–60 day resting period to ensure long term stability before construction of the new structure resumes.

It’s exciting to see this project finally break ground, and we’re looking forward to bringing this much needed facility to the Glenwood and surrounding community. Stay tuned for progress updates.

Today marks the official start of demolition on an exciting major addition & remodeling project on beautiful Lake Mary!

After months of planning, designing, and navigating the permitting process, we’re fired up to finally bring this vision to life. There’s nothing better than seeing a project move from paper to progress!

This project begins with original addition and remodeling plans completed by CB Designs, combined with interior design by Stryhn, a collaboration we are excited to bring to life.

This classic lake home is about to get a full upgrade and when we’re done, it’ll be as good as new (with a few serious upgrades 😉).

Stay tuned as we take you along for the journey!
