B Shift spent part of the day at St. Stephens Preschool helping students kick off summer break! Firefighters cooled everyone down with some water and enjoyed getting to interact with the kids and staff, as they celebrated the last day of school.

As summer officially begins, we also want to remind everyone to stay safe while enjoying the break:

β˜€οΈ Stay hydrated and avoid spending too much time in extreme heat
β˜€οΈ Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles
β˜€οΈ Always supervise children around pools, lakes, and any water activities
β˜€οΈ Wear helmets and protective gear while riding bikes, ATVs, or skateboards
β˜€οΈ Be cautious with fireworks and outdoor grilling
β˜€οΈ Remember to check smoke alarms and review your family emergency plans

We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing summer! Thank you to St. Stephens Preschool for inviting us out to celebrate with you.

🚫πŸ”₯ BURN BAN LIFTED FOR ROWAN & CABARRUS COUNTIES πŸ”₯🚫

Effective at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, the statewide burn ban has officially been lifted for Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

Burn permits are now available again through the N.C. Forest Service. Please remember that all previous permits were canceled when the burn ban went into effect, so a new valid permit is required before burning.

Residents can obtain a permit online at:
https://apps.ncagr.gov/burnpermits/

Even though the ban has been lifted, conditions can still change quickly. If you choose to burn:

πŸ”₯ Never leave a fire unattended
πŸ”₯ Keep a water source nearby
πŸ”₯ Avoid burning on windy days
πŸ”₯ Make sure fires are completely out before leaving the area
πŸ”₯ Burn only natural vegetation permitted by state guidelines

Please continue to use caution and help us prevent unnecessary brush and woods fires across our communities.

As a reminder, local fire marshals still have authority over burning within 100 feet of an occupied structure.

Stay safe and burn responsibly.
