“Civil site development is a lot like building a puzzle because so many different pieces have to fit together the right way to create a complete project." 🧩

For Robert Tripp, that puzzle has taken many forms throughout a 30+ year career spanning utility, military, industrial, educational, and commercial projects.

As a senior civil infrastructure engineer, Robert helps guide land development projects from design and permitting through construction. Having worked across many different project types, he’s developed the ability to see how project pieces fit together and what it takes to bring those plans to life.

Robert is equally passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. He enjoys helping younger engineers understand the process behind the work, offering technical guidance and insight as they grow in their careers. As he puts it, "The goal is to help people learn, grow, and gain the confidence to lead in their own way."

It’s an approach that extends Robert’s impact far beyond the projects he serves. We’re proud to have leaders like Robert who invest in both the work and the people behind it. Thank you, Robert!

We’re proud to share that Merrick has been awarded a key project for TerraPower in advancing the future of nuclear energy.

Merrick is designing multiple gas handling skids as part of the complete Sodium Cover Gas Monitoring System for TerraPower’s first Natrium advanced reactor plant, currently under construction in Kemmerer, WY.

“This project marks another milestone in a collaboration that began in 2012 and reflects our continued commitment to TerraPower’s mission, leading deployment of a Generation IV reactor,” says Keith Michaud, Merrick’s Business Development Manager of nuclear services & technology.

This work moves us closer to the first commercially deployed sodium fast reactor, and we’re honored to help deliver the enhanced safety systems and performance that define this next step in clean energy.

Say hi to Samantha Phillips, a mechanical facilities designer working on some of the most advanced nuclear and research facilities being developed today.

Based in Canada, Sam’s current work focuses on nuclear projects, including Canada’s Advanced Nuclear Materials Research Centre (ANMRC) and the TerraPower Isotopes Ac-225 Manufacturing Facility in Philadelphia. From schematics and calculations to Revit modeling and basis of design development, she helps translate project requirements into functional, high-performance designs.

For Sam, the most rewarding part of her job is knowing that her work contributes to advancements in nuclear medicine, expanded cancer treatment options, and the future of medical and nuclear research.

With a background in biomedical and mechanical engineering and seven years of industry experience, Sam is eager to keep pushing her expertise further as radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and research environments become increasingly advanced and complex.

Some leaders shape organizations. Others help shape entire communities. ✨

Congratulations to Brandy Wilson, Merrick's water practice leader, for being selected as one of 50 statewide honorees for the 2026 Idaho Business Review Women of the Year Awards.

Throughout her nearly 30-year career, Brandy has helped communities tackle complex water challenges while advancing sustainability, resilience, and environmental stewardship.

A mentor, collaborator, and dedicated community leader, Brandy serves numerous Idaho conservation and community organizations in addition to leading water initiatives across the region, including as President of the Board of Directors for the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands.

"I've always believed that thriving communities and healthy watersheds go hand in hand," Brandy says. "The most meaningful work happens when people come together around shared goals and create solutions that benefit both the environment and the communities that depend on it. I'm honored to be recognized alongside so many remarkable women who are making a difference across Idaho."

Brandy leads with purpose, serves with heart, and remains committed to the communities she calls home. We're proud to have her on our team and inspired by the example she sets for us every day. Congratulations, Brandy! 😊

Growth starts with great people. 🙌🏽

Say hello to Ken Siu, senior transportation engineer supporting transportation clients and communities across Central Florida. With 15 years in the transportation industry, Ken has built a career around helping people move more efficiently while earning the trust of clients along the way. Since joining Merrick a little over a year ago, Ken has helped expand our transportation presence by recruiting talent, growing client relationships, supporting project delivery, and helping establish our new Orlando office.

As both a technical leader and a champion for the continued growth of Merrick, Ken enjoys working closely with clients and bringing a level of care that comes from knowing the people behind the project, not just the project itself.

Thank you, Ken, for your leadership, dedication, and positive impact you make across Florida every day!

Saddle up for an inside look of a Denver landmark. 🤠

Merrick interns visited the National Western Center to learn how engineering, design, and infrastructure come together to transform a historic site into a destination built for the future.

As the lead horizontal design team for redevelopment, Merrick helped create the infrastructure backbone of the campus, from roads and utilities to drainage systems, public spaces, and site development improvements.

A big thanks to senior civil infrastructure project engineer Brian Bern and project manager Christi Wisleder for leading the tour and sharing their expertise on the project!
