Your HVAC can circulate more than just air. Litter boxes, paint, solvents, cleaners, and other odor/VOC sources placed near your system can get pulled into the airflow and spread throughout your home.

Recommendation: Keep litter boxes, paint, chemicals, and other contaminant sources at least 3–5 feet away from the furnace/air handler and any return-air intake—and farther away whenever possible. Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s required clearances.

Cleaner air starts with what you keep around your HVAC system.
