π₯ π₯΅ What is realistic for most homeowners to expect from your hvac system for our hot humid summer West Tennessee days :
On a 95 + degree, with even higher heat indexs, expect your HVAC system to maintain an indoor temperature between 78Β°F and 80Β°F. Standard air conditioners are generally designed to cool about 15Β°F to 20Β°F below the outside temperature. With high humidity, the system works significantly harder because a large portion of its energy goes toward removing moisture from the air rather than just lowering the sensible temperature.
How to help :
1. Vent Check: Use a digital thermometer to measure the air coming out of a supply vent closest to your indoor unit. It should blow between 55Β°F and 65Β°F.
2. Filter Check: A clogged filter restricts the airflow needed to cool the coils. Check your air filters monthly during peak summer use.
2. Condenser Check: Ensure your outdoor unit is free of leaves, debris, or overgrown shrubs, and that nothing is blocking airflow.
3. Frost Warning: If you notice ice forming on the refrigerant lines (the insulated copper lines) outside or at your indoor coil, turn the system off to prevent compressor damage and let it thaw. (And call us ) π
