Phase 2 of Taylor’s Wave is taking shape in Woodfin!

Crews are preparing to place concrete for the final portion of the wave structure and island before shifting focus to construction of the fish bypass channel in the coming weeks.

Calibre’s Team is providing construction oversight as the project moves toward completion this fall, helping bring to life a new river feature designed for recreation, safer boater passage and improved fish migration.

Healthy rivers make vibrant communities. At PWX 2026 in Houston, Ben Murphy (Calibre) and Tyler Kiggins (Wenk) talked about how engineering, landscape architecture, and ecology came together at The River Mile to revitalize the South Platte River.

At Calibre, we value meaningful work, and it is rewarding to see lessons learned from our work in Denver becoming part of a larger conversation about building more resilient, connected communities.

Ben is presenting at APWA's PWX 2026 with Greg Dorolek (Wenk Associates) on how resilient urban river design can address flood risk, water quality, habitat restoration, and public access as part of one integrated system.

Using ’s The River Mile as a case study, they’ll share lessons with applications for communities rethinking the role of their urban waterways.

One of our favorite traditions at Calibre is our just-for-fun trainings, where team members share a hobby or passion outside of work.

This week, Charlotte introduced us to origami, showing us how a single piece of paper can become something unexpected with a little creativity and patience.

Thanks, Charlotte, for sharing with our team!

Each summer, Calibre brings our team and their families together for a day of connection and fun. This year, we took our annual family picnic to the Zoo, where everyone could explore the exhibits and make memories together outside the office. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

At Dad Clark Gulch, frequent flooding and debris buildup created recurring maintenance challenges for Highlands Ranch Metro District at a well-used West Fork Disc Golf Course.

Calibre’s design raised the West Fork Trail by approximately 8 feet and replaced the existing crossing with a 50-foot bridge, creating more room for storm flows, sediment, and debris to pass beneath the trail. The design was informed by existing hydrology and geomorphology, backwater conditions at C-470, bridge rise calculations, and HRMD crossing criteria.

The improved crossing reduces flood impacts, limits maintenance after storm events, and helps keep this trail connection open and reliable for the community.

Recreation and river health go hand in hand.

At Eagle River Park, Calibre's Whitewater Division Manager Scott Shipley was recently in the field placing for and measuring velocity for fish passage. This is the kind of hands-on work that helps shape parks into spaces that serve both people and the natural systems around them.
