What would you build out of a shipping container if you could?

How about a:

→ Rooftop bar?
→ Backyard sauna?
→ Portable escape room?
→ Guest house?

These are all real things people have built, by the way. Most shipping container projects are more doable than you'd think.

A shipping container is basically a steel box that was way overbuilt for ocean freight, which makes it a ridiculously solid starting point for just about anything. The catch is that every opening you cut weakens the frame, so you need someone who knows how to reinforce it properly (hi, that's us).

Fun fact: this rose has been sitting in our shop for years and not a single petal has fallen.

Would've solved that whole fairy tale situation pretty quickly. (Sorry, Beast.)

One of our fabricators made this from copper sheet. Every petal was shaped by hand, assembled, and set under a glass dome.

Have you noticed that every EV charger in every parking lot in America looks exactly the same? That's not a regulation…it's a lack of imagination.

The charging hardware is what it is—there's no changing that. But as long as the enclosure around it is weatherproof and has a power connection, it can look like whatever you want.

For example, when our owner's dad bought a Tesla, we didn't just mount a charger on the wall and call it a day. (We're a shop full of metal fabricators after all; "just mount it on the wall" isn't really in our vocabulary).

Instead, we built a giant red-and-silver M enclosure that tucks the components out of sight and doubles as a conversation piece in our parking lot.

Pop quiz: about what percentage of metal fabrication is MIG welded?

A) 20%
B) 50%
C) 80%
D) 95%

The answer is C: about 80%.

Now the real question: what percentage of ours is?

Roughly the inverse.

Most of what leaves our floor at Macy Industries is TIG welded, which requires two hands, a foot, and the kind of coordination most people reserve for playing the drums. It's slower, harder to learn, and the difference between a weld that just holds and one you don't have to hide.

Old staircases were built by people who apparently had no fear of heights, darkness, or liability.

🌀 Spiral stone steps with no railing.
🪵 Exterior wooden stairs that flex when you breathe on them.
🕳 Basement stairs so steep they're basically a controlled fall with extra steps.

Somewhere along the way, we decided stairs should be… less adventurous.
