From landmark performances to landmark places, our partnership with the Peace Center has helped shape Greenville’s cultural landscape for decades.

After designing the original Peace Center Performing Arts Center—a catalyst for downtown Greenville’s revitalization—CGD | PBK partnered with the Peace Center again as part of its AMP (A Music Project) initiative. We transformed two historic downtown buildings into vibrant new music destinations.

The Mockingbird reimagines the historic Gullick & Markley buildings as an intimate listening room, bar, and lounge while restoring original brick, terrazzo flooring, and a painted mural wall. Above, the Arts Education Center provides flexible spaces for learning and collaboration.

Just down the street, Coach Music Factory breathes new life into a mid-1800s industrial building, preserving its historic wood framing and brick masonry while creating a dynamic live music venue. Together, these projects celebrate Greenville’s architectural heritage while expanding opportunities for arts, music, and community.

From coast to coast, the stars and stripes fly over the places that shape and strengthen our communities.

This Fourth of July, we're proud to celebrate the freedoms that unite us and grateful for those who have served to protect them.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at PBK.

We're proud to see Crystal Ball O'Connor, PhD featured alongside CGD | PBK's friend, client, and district partner Will Anderson in the Summer 2026 issue of Learning By Design Magazine.

The article highlights CGD | PBK's partnership with Richland School District Two and how evidence-based, student-centered, and biophilic design strategies shaped the new Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School and the renovation of Bookman Road Elementary.

The findings provide compelling evidence that thoughtful, research-informed design can make a measurable difference. Post-occupancy evaluations showed improvements in student engagement, academic performance, teacher satisfaction, attendance, and overall school climate—reinforcing the value of designing learning environments with both people and outcomes in mind.

We're grateful to Richland School District Two for embracing a process that pairs innovative design with meaningful evaluation, and to Crystal for helping advance the conversation around evidence-based learning environments.

Congratulations to Crystal and Will on a well-deserved feature and thank you to Learning by Design for your dedication to highlighting the importance of evidence-based educational facilities design.

Designed to fuel performance, development, and the future of collegiate athletics.

More than a training facility, the Vaqueros Performance Center is a strategic investment in the future of UTRGV Athletics—designed to support the next generation of Vaqueros on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.

By bringing together performance training, sports medicine, recovery, nutrition, academics, and team operations under one roof, the facility creates a seamless environment where athletes can excel both on and off the field. Complemented by dedicated outdoor practice facilities, the center is designed to strengthen recruiting, elevate the student-athlete experience, and support sustained competitive success for years to come.

A transformative investment in the future of UTRGV Athletics and the next generation of Vaqueros.

A transformative renovation for St. Edward’s University is now complete. ✨

Fleck Hall has been reimagined to support the university’s growing Nursing and healthcare programs with new classrooms and simulation labs equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Designed to mirror real-world clinical environments, the facility now includes spaces for Physician Assistant training, Intensive Care Units, Operating Rooms, Exam Rooms, Orthopedics, Occupational Therapy, Pediatrics, and Lifespan Development.

Delivered on an accelerated schedule, the project was carefully coordinated to meet upcoming accreditation requirements while ensuring all specialized medical equipment was procured and installed. Working closely with university leadership, the design team helped create a future-focused learning environment that prepares students for success in the healthcare industry.

Designed as a premier, multi-functional destination, the Tarleton State University Convocation Center brings together elite athletic performance and a wide range of campus and community events.

Home to NCAA Division I basketball, the facility accommodates approximately 7,000 fans for games and up to 8,000 for concerts and large-scale events. The design prioritizes both athlete and spectator experience, featuring custom locker rooms, an integrated nutrition center, and a dedicated sports medicine suite, alongside premium seating, hospitality spaces, and advanced audio-visual systems.

Beyond athletics, the convocation center serves as a flexible venue for commencements, academic events, and conferences—strengthening its role as a central hub for the university and surrounding community.

From vibrant branding to thoughtfully integrated amenities, this project reflects a commitment to performance, experience, and connection.

Our West Region Director, Jesse Miller, was recently featured on the The Better Learning Podcast with Jeff Kubiak and Carla Cummins to discuss how K–12 architecture can shape the way students learn—and who they become.

Drawing on more than two decades of experience designing schools across California, Nevada, and Texas, Jesse shared insights on creating radically student-centered environments through vision, community input, and thoughtful design. From working on Compton High School alongside Dr. Dre to rethinking everyday spaces like corridors and collaboration zones, the conversation highlights how every square foot can support learning and belonging.

Key takeaways include designing schools for the next 100 years, putting learning on display so students can “shop their future,” and inviting both teachers and students into the design process from the very beginning.

What if the buildings we design for students could shape not just how they learn, but who they become? In this episode, Jeff Kubiak and Carla Cummins sit down with Jesse Miller, Managing Senior Principal at PBK Architects, to explore how K-12 architecture can transform education from the ground up.....
