Not everything HUNCH students build leaves the planet. Some of it prepares the people who do.

Alongside flight hardware, students fabricate precision training equipment that NASA uses to prepare astronauts and flight controllers on the ground. Different destination, same standard: if NASA is going to use it, it has to be NASA-grade.

Only one spacecraft in history has ever visited Neptune. It happened on this day in 1989.

Voyager 2 skimmed past the ice giant 37 years ago, sending back the first close-up images of its deep blue clouds and discovering new moons and rings along the way. No mission has been back since. Everything we know about Neptune up close comes from that single flyby.
