⚠️ HVAC Alert: Duke Energy Load Control / Thermostat Events

With the extreme heat, Duke Energy may activate load-control or energy-saving events today, like they did yesterday, for customers enrolled in programs like EnergyWise Home, Power Manager, Smart Thermostat rewards, or similar utility programs.

If your AC seems like it is not cooling normally, it may not be an HVAC breakdown.

Before calling for service, check your thermostat and thermostat app for messages.

You may also notice your thermostat setpoint has changed a few degrees, or your outdoor unit may be cycled off temporarily while the indoor fan continues to run.

Stay cool, check your thermostat first, and please share this with neighbors who may be affected.

For homeowners, caring for the environment can start with everyday systems we use at home. Heating, cooling, and plumbing all affect energy and water use, especially during the warmer months.
A few simple reminders:
• Replace dirty HVAC filters to support airflow
• Use programmable thermostat settings when possible
• Keep AC equipment clear of leaves, mulch, and grass clippings
• Repair dripping faucets and running toilets
• Know where your main water shutoff valve is located
Small improvements around the house can add up over time, for comfort, efficiency, and conservation.
