We stock a wide variety of factory OEM air filters. Why settle for something that does not fit properly? If you purchase something generic that does not fit properly the air will bypass around the edges of the filter and defeat the purpose of having a quality filter installation.

During the high heat conditions it is a good idea to make sure your air filter is not dirty. A dirty filter decreases your airflow. Design condition for Indiana is 95 degree outdoor air. When the temperature increases above this your A/C unit may struggle to keep up. A dirty air filter adds to the issue. We do not recommend using the higher merv rated 1" air filters. We see issues daily with air restriction caused by this. ALlways use a basic 1" pleated air filter.

Take a look at the coil on your outdoor unit before the heat arrives. If it is dirty shut off the electrical power to it and flush the coil out with a water hose. Let it sit for a couple of hours before restoring the power. This simple step may keep you cooler in the coming high temperatures this week.

In the heat of the summer it is common for capacitors to fail. The symptoms of a failed capacitor are either the fan motor not starting or the compressor humming and shutting off every few minutes or not starting at all. The capacitor should be perfectly flat on top. If it has a slight dome shape on the top where the wires come out it has overheated and failed and needs replaced. We have most capacitors in stock. We can ship them to you or you can stop in and pick one up.

Replacing a capacitor on your furnace, heat pump, or air conditioning system is a very easy do it yourself project. Make sure the power is disconnected before attempting this repair. A capacitor has 2 types of ratings. The first is the uf (microfarad) rating and the second is the VAC (voltage) ratin...

Tip: We see a lot of capacitor failures when the temperature climbs into the 90s. If your A/C stops working shut off the power to the outdoor unit and remove the cover over the electrical section. The capacitor is usually a round object that is close to the size of a soda pop can and has several wire connections on the top. The top of the capacitor should be perfectly flat. If there is any dome at all to the top the capacitor has overheated and failed. Another indication the capacitor has failed is oil leaking. Keep in mind it can also look normal and still be bad. If you have either of the conditions listed above it is absolutely bad.
