Big mining operations depend on details done right.

At the Husky 1 Haul Road Phase II project, Shimmick is constructing the haul road and supporting infrastructure that will help keep future operations moving at Itafos Conda. From a major culvert crossing to drainage improvements, earthwork, grading, and environmental controls, the team is building the foundation for what's next.

Shimmick teamed up with Itafos Conda for this year's Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency Inc. Project Warmth Classic, supporting a program that helps families with energy assistance. Turns out, not every leadership decision needs a whiteboard. ⚾

After a full day of challenging ideas, talking strategy and thinking about what's next for Shimmick, we traded the conference room for Coors Field and a Colorado Rockies game.

Because great teams aren't built only around a table.

This summer, our interns were challenged to think critically, challenge assumptions and bring forward ideas that could make Shimmick and Axia Electric better.

From improving productivity to rethinking digital processes, they brought fresh perspectives to real business challenges—and presented their ideas directly to leaders across the company.

The original traffic plan said "slow down."
The project team said "let's try something else."

After developing an alternative traffic control plan with the City of Modesto - City Hall and Caltrans HQ, the River Trunk Realignment - River Trunk Pump Station Project team completed a major milestone, finishing a critical phase of force main installation and roadway restoration while clearing the corridor ahead of seasonal restrictions. Add in 42-inch pipe, excavations up to 36 feet deep, and a whole lot of teamwork, and you've got one impressive accomplishment.

No gutter balls here. 🎳

The team on the City of Santa Cruz Public Works Murray Street Bridge Project recently traded hard hats for bowling shoes to celebrate a great summer with their interns Sebastian Rojas, William Yao, and Diana Gomez.

After months of contributing to critical bridge and infrastructure work, the interns joined the project team for a well-earned afternoon of strikes, spares, and a little friendly competition. According to the project team, the interns worked hard, regularly putting in long days and becoming valuable members of the crew.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this summer a memorable one for our next generation of construction professionals.
