Strong industries are built by strong communities.

Today, the AEC community is coming together in San Francisco for BuildIT Founders Day 2026 to celebrate achievement, strengthen connections, and explore new ideas that will help shape the future of our industry.

This year's theme, THRIVE, is a reminder that the future of infrastructure depends not only on the projects we build, but also on the people, partnerships, and innovation that move our industry forward.

Shimmick is proud to sponsor an event that champions collaboration, opportunity, and the individuals helping shape what's next.

Here's to meaningful conversations, new connections, and a future where our industry continues to thrive.

A long-missing transit link in Los Angeles County officially broke ground yesterday, and Shimmick is helping build it.

The Los Angeles Daily News covered yesterday’s groundbreaking for the North Hollywood-to-Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit Project, a major investment in faster, more reliable transit connecting the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys ahead of the 2028 Olympics.

As part of the Myers-Shimmick Joint Venture, Shimmick is delivering the 19-mile corridor through dedicated transit lanes, 22 new stations, and utility upgrades supporting a fully zero-emission electric bus system, which is projected to cut peak travel times by 44%.

Experienced leadership drives stronger ex*****on, and Shimmick continues investing in both.

Greg Smith joins Shimmick as Vice President of Preconstruction, bringing more than four decades of experience across major water infrastructure programs throughout the U.S. and Canada, with deep expertise in CMAR/CMGC, progressive design-build, and alternative delivery.

His background includes some of Texas’ largest and most complex water projects, including the $1.9B Northeast Water Purification Project in Houston and major CMAR programs supporting regional water infrastructure across North Texas.

As Shimmick continues to grow across our core markets, Greg’s technical leadership and collaborative approach will strengthen the way we pursue and deliver critical infrastructure projects.

Please join us in welcoming Greg to the team!

This is our why.

Behind every hard hat is a life that matters - families, friends, people counting on us to do this work the right way.

We take pride in what we build. But we take greater responsibility in protecting the people who build it.

Construction Safety Week may be wrapping up, but the standard carries on. Safety is ingrained in how we operate - every plan, every task, every job.

Every plan is built around one outcome: everyone goes home safe.

High-energy, STCKY hazards are addressed before work begins, with clear steps, defined controls, and a shared understanding across the team.

Today, we’re taking part in the National Stand-Down to Prevent Falls - a moment to pause and refocus on the leading cause of fatalities in our industry.

We plan it right so that we can deliver it safely.

A strong week in Grapevine 💪

At DBIA, one theme kept coming up: complex infrastructure demands real ownership.

Not just ideas. Not just plans. Ex*****on, accountability, and partners who stay in it through every phase.

Grateful for the conversations and connections with teams who see it the same way.

Appreciate everyone who stopped by to connect.
