On Tuesday, August 4, the City Engineering Division will be closing Elm Avenue between Michigan Avenue and North Street so crews can repave Ganson Street between Elm Avenue and the East City Limits.

Ganson Street and Elm Avenue are expected to reopen on Friday, August 14, 2026.

A signed detour will direct southbound Elm Ave traffic west on North St, South on Waterloo Ave, then East on Michigan Ave.

Lansing Avenue Resurfacing
Between the Jackson city limits and Parnall Road beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with the project expected to be completed and the roadway fully reopened by Friday, July 31, 2026, weather permitting.

Lansing Avenue Resurfacing Project – Traffic Impacts

Blackman Charter Township, MI – The Jackson County Department of Transportation (JCDOT) would like to inform the public that resurfacing work will take place on Lansing Avenue between the Jackson city limits and Parnall Road beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with the project expected to be completed and the roadway fully reopened by Friday, July 31, 2026, weather permitting.

Traffic will be maintained throughout construction. One lane of traffic will remain open in both the northbound and southbound directions at all times. Local traffic will continue to have access, and all businesses along the corridor will remain open during the project.

Motorists should expect intermittent delays, reduce speeds, and use extra caution while traveling through the work zone. When possible, drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes to minimize congestion.

JCDOT appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed to provide a smoother, safer roadway for the traveling public.

Bridge closure on Parnall between Lansing Ave and Cooper

Blackman Charter Township, MI – The Jackson County Department of Transportation (JCDOT) would like to inform residents and motorists of an upcoming bridge closure on Parnall Rd., located between Lansing Ave. and Cooper Rd.

Construction on the bridge is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 8, 2026, and is expected to be completed by Friday, June 19, 2026, weather permitting. During construction, the bridge will be closed to through traffic and detours will be posted. However, local residents will continue to have access to their properties.

***ROAD CLOSURE ALERT***
On Monday, May 11, the City Engineering Division will be closing S. Elm Ave from Michigan Ave to Page Ave to allow crews to safely connect a new water main pipe on Joy Ave to the City-wide distribution system on Elm Ave.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 7:00am and is expected to last up to three weeks.

A posted detour will direct thru traffic to Page Ave, as shown below:

Airport Rd. Resurfacing Project

Blackman Charter Township, MI – The Jackson County Department of Transportation (JCDOT) would like to inform the public of upcoming lane closures on Airport Rd. between Argyle St. and County Farm Rd. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 13, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed by November 15, 2026.

During construction, Airport Rd. will remain open to through traffic; however, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, delays, and occasional temporary closures as work progresses. Access to all businesses in the project area will be maintained throughout construction.

No posted detour routes will be provided. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, seek alternate routes when possible, and allow extra travel time.
