Big news for Expo day! This year's sightseeing ride plane is a legend. ✈️

We're thrilled to welcome the 1928 Ford Tri-Motor "City of Port Clinton" to the Kent State Airport for the Aeronautics and Engineering Expo on Saturday, September 26! This year you'll be flying in one of the aircraft that helped launch commercial air travel in America.

Rides are a separate ticket from Expo admission and are available first come, first served!

Week of Welcome wrapped up in the best way possible on Friday with our Kick Off Cookout! Students, faculty, and staff came together for an afternoon of hot dogs, burgers, chips, and plenty of friendly competition.

Between nine square in the air, giant Jenga, pickleball, volleyball, co****le, giant Connect Four, and a spin on the prize wheel, there was something for everyone. It was a great reminder of what makes our college feel like a community. Thanks to everyone who came out to eat, play, and enjoy the sunshine with us!

Kent State aerospace engineering student Ben Windt didn't let a pitch competition rejection stop him. Instead, he turned it into an internship with the very company that beat him. From building digital twins to networking his way into his next internship, Ben's story shows the kind of real-world, hands-on experience CAE students gain along the way. Proud of you, Ben!

Move-In Day brought a new Golden Flash to the College of Aeronautics and Engineering! Nate Ellison, a first-year computer engineering technology student (and jazz minor!), spent Tuesday settling into his residence hall with his parents, Chris and Melissa, by his side. Kent State Today caught up with the Ellison family and captured what made Kent State feel like home for Nate. We can't wait to see what he builds here. Welcome, Nate!

What a week at the Ohio State Fair! 🎡 Our College of Aeronautics and Engineering booth in the Lausche Building was buzzing with visitors of all ages who came to check out robotic dogs, drones, VR goggles, and more.

It was such a joy watching kids' faces light up as they tried on VR headsets or watched a drone take flight, many for the very first time. That spark of curiosity is exactly what we hope to inspire, because you never know which future engineer, pilot, or innovator we met this week.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi and to our amazing faculty and staff who made it such a great experience. See you next year!

✈️🤖 Two weeks of Young Explorers. Two exciting challenges. Countless opportunities to learn, create, and explore!

Our Young Explorers campers spent the past two weeks putting their creativity, engineering skills, and problem solving abilities to the test during Air Rescue and Robo Rescue camps!

During Air Rescue, 15 young engineers took on the role of airport engineers after severe weather impacted "Smart Airport." Campers designed and built their own airport systems, explored how weather affects aviation, programmed Ari Ozobots, used LEGO SPIKE technology and augmented reality, and tackled transportation and rescue challenges. ✈️🌩️

Then, during Robo Rescue, 17 young engineers turned their attention to the future of smart communities! Campers designed their own smart cities and used LEGO SPIKE, Ari Ozobots, Merge Cubes, and 3D printed creations to tackle real world challenges. From rescuing pets to finding ways to make their communities safer and smarter, campers explored how robotics and technology can be used to solve problems, and wrapped up the week by showcasing their smart cities! 🏙️🤖

Across both weeks, our young explorers learned that engineering is about more than just building. It's about asking questions, working together, testing ideas, solving problems, and finding creative solutions. 💡

We loved watching these future engineers, aviators, and innovators learn, create, and challenge themselves over the past two weeks! 💙✈️🤖
