It's been a busy summer here at CB! Our crews have been hard at work completing a range of projects. This summer, CB Const, Inc will close out five school seismic projects and six school bond projects! CB is proud and grateful for the hardworking team we have built to make these construction projects a reality.

The attached photos are of one of the most recently completed seismic retrofit projects located in Clatskanie, OR. This seismic upgrade was for the Clatskanie Elementary School. CB's focus on community-centric construction has led us to specialize in diverse projects, from seismic upgrades for K-12 schools to comprehensive school renovations. As our expertise grows, we remain both excited and dedicated to creating spaces that inspire pride, education, safety and opportunities throughout all of Oregon.

‼️🚨Completed project alert! 🚨‼️

The Cannon Beach Fire Station, located in Cannon Beach, OR, was completed in March of 2024. The Cannon Beach Fire Station project consisted of seismic upgrades which included new apparatus bay doors, siding, windows and interior finishes.

During construction, our experience and knowledge with structural systems and seismic upgrades allowed us to work closely with WRK Engineers to develop acceptable field solutions when conflicts or hidden conditions arose. For example, when we encountered termites and a substantial amount of dry rot in the demolition process, our working relationship and constant communication allowed for a much more streamlined process for the entire project team to get these issues resolved.

This summer, keep your eyes out for our seismic projects across the state. If you're an experienced carpenter or know an experienced carpenter, send them our way!

Take a look at the photographed Baker City Middle School Cafeteria and Multi-purpose project! The photos are a great demonstration of the vast amount of work that has already been put in.

This project consists of a ground-up build of a Cafeteria/Multi-purpose building, in addition to upgrades to the HVAC and security system in the existing Baker City Middle School building. Work includes the construction of a new 6,030 sq. ft. facility, with the inclusion of the following trades: sitework and excavation, wood trusses, rough carpentry, drywall, windows, doors & hardware, casework, and interior finishes, as well as new mechanical, electrical and plumbing components. There are also exterior site improvements, including concrete paving, asphalt paving, and landscaping.

The main purpose of this building will be the new Cafeteria for the Baker Middle School which is attached to the existing building, utilizing a new vestibule entrance into the new building. This will have a commercial kitchen with walk-in fridge and freezers, three bathrooms, two storage/mechanical rooms, a janitor's closet, and a 3,138 sq. ft. cafeteria.

This has been a great project to be part of, and CB always takes great pride on completing projects local to our main office in La Grande. We are proud of the CB employees that have gone the extra mile to keep this project on schedule, safe, and running smoothly.

It's been a fun day connecting with students at the Boise State University Spring Career Fair!

CB Const, Inc is looking for summer interns for 2024. Interns would have the opportunity to assist in the field with our sub trades and carpenters, and/or assist Superintendents, Project Engineers and Project Managers. CB Const, Inc offers vast learning opportunities and can provide a flexible, hands on experience for interns.

Boise State has a great pool of engineers and construction management students, and we are looking forward to having a couple interns on our projects this summer. CB Const, Inc is a proud Premier Sponsor the the BSU Career Fair and grateful for the opportunity to meet potential interns.

Check out last week's pour day at the Davis Apartments project! CB Const, Inc's concrete crew knocked out 70-feet of concrete in very tight quarters on this new build that consists of 20-dwelling units and is 13,0000 sq ft.

As an in-house sub trade, our concrete crew worked with our earthwork crew to grade and level to prepare for the pour for the apartment sidewalks. Our concrete crew is responsible for setting and building all their own forms, and then laying and finishing the concrete.

We are proud of our concrete crew that works like a well-oiled machine together. They are again hard at work this week prepping for another pour at the Davis Apartments, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

The pictured Bates building is a full remodel of an existing unoccupied 7,241sf building that was brought over from the town of Bates, OR that sits on the Prairie City school district's property. This project has included separating the building into two separate uses under one roof. One part is a grant-funded Community Health Center, and the other is Pre-K classrooms.

This has been a total interior demo/reframe/remodel. The Community Health Center side has 3 offices, 2 exam rooms, 2 ADA restrooms, a breakroom, and 2 storage/mechanical rooms. The Pre-K side has a conference room, 3 classrooms, an admin office, a breakroom, and 4 bathrooms.

The exterior upgrades include: new asphalt, concrete sidewalks, ADA parking, handrails, siding, new windows/doors, and it will also have a new covered entrance.

The Prairie City Bates project began in June of 2023. Phase one of the project is complete and phase two is expected to be finished June 2024.

Introducing: Nikki Robertson!

Nikki is the Controller at CB Const, Inc who oversees all things that fall under the financial umbrella. She is a wizard with numbers and works hard and long hours behind the scenes to keep CB Const, Inc monetarily on track. Nikki constantly goes above and beyond to ensure deadlines are met, the numbers add up, and reports and budgets are concise and accurate. She is passionate about her work and enjoys analyzing and interpreting the company’s financial data which is one of the many reasons she thrives in this position.

Nikki has been with the company for three years now, and has over 30 years of experience in accounting/finance. She works closely with our Project Managers, HR Manager, General Manager and the President, and also supervises Accounts Payable and Payroll. Nikki has shared that one of the reasons she enjoys her job is because of those she works with. In the office, it is frequently said that we are constantly learning something new, and Nikki is often to be found as someone who helps people learn and interpret new things.

Nikki’s coworkers enjoy working with her for several reasons, some of which are she will always give you a straightforward answer, helping hand and is guaranteed to get things done correctly and on time. Her dedication to the company and the pride she takes in her work doesn’t go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated. She is an extremely hard worker, and we are lucky to have her on the CB Team!
