We’re proud to celebrate MSI founders Anne Thornton and Les Giese, married and in business together for decades, who are being inducted into the Hunterdon County Business Hall of Fame, Class of 2026.

For decades, Anne and Les have been deeply involved in the Hunterdon County community, not only building a business here, but supporting local organizations, serving on boards and committees, creating jobs, building relationships, and contributing to the community around them.

MSI has grown and changed a lot over the years, but the foundation they created is still very much part of who we are today.

Congratulations, Anne and Les. This recognition is incredibly well deserved.

The Hunterdon County Business Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at the Ryland Inn.

Ever wonder why a plumber is called a plumber?

It goes all the way back to ancient Rome.

The word “plumber” comes from the Latin word *plumbum*, meaning lead. Lead was commonly used for pipes in Roman plumbing systems.

And there’s one more connection hiding on the periodic table: lead’s chemical symbol, **Pb**, comes from the very same Latin word.

This shower was designed around what this homeowner actually wanted: simple, functional and easy to live with.

A fold-down Moen teak bench gives him a seat when he wants it without permanently taking up shower space. The Moen Magnetix handheld showerhead pops off easily for rinsing and cleaning, then snaps right back into place. And instead of a traditional niche, we used a full-length shower shelf for plenty of storage without adding visual clutter.

Good remodeling is not about adding more. It’s about making the space work better for the person using it.

MSI has grown into a company that does a lot under one roof: plumbing, heating and cooling, kitchen and bath remodeling, design, service, and plenty of work behind the scenes to keep all of it operating smoothly.

Our President, Audra Giese, was named a 2026 CIANJ Enterprising Woman for helping move our second-generation family business forward while building on nearly 40 years of MSI.

From new technology and better systems to marketing, customer experience and the day-to-day details of running a growing home service company, there are a lot of moving pieces. It’s nice to see that work recognized.

People who hear “turn the AC up” and make it colder…

…and people who hear it and raise the temperature. 😂

Apparently we’ve all just been using this phrase with absolutely no agreed-upon meaning.

Settle it for us: UP = colder or warmer?
