We are people-first engineers providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, & fire suppression design since 1981. Our projects focus on the places where people learn, play, live, work, worship, eat, heal and connect. We currently work with over 190 architectural partners and owners serviced by our offices in Lexington & Louisville and Charleston, SC. Led by STW's project engineers, our interns and new team members recently visited University to tour the Hamann-Ray Building and see progress on the second-floor renovation. The renovated space will support Asbury’s new Nursing Program and prepare students for careers in healthcare. The visit gave them a firsthand look at how the systems we design come together in the field.

Our design team recently attended the Holy Spirit Parish & Newman Center Addition Topping Out Ceremony!

They joined the project team and church congregation to sign the ceremonial beam before watching it be raised into place. The Topping Out Ceremony marks the completion of the building’s structural frame and celebrates the hard work that brought the project to this milestone. A meaningful moment for a project that will serve the Holy Spirit Parish & Newman Center and the Lexington community for years to come.

Back-to-school season is here, and we're celebrating the first year of The Hub for Innovative Learning & Leadership! Over the past year, The Hill has brought students, educators, and industry partners together in a space designed to connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities. Its cutting-edge career and technical pathways give students hands-on experience while preparing them to enter the workforce.

STW provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for the 172,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project. System highlights include a Geothermal HVAC system and advanced networked lighting controls, which create an efficient and reliable learning environment designed to serve students for decades.

Correctional facilities are among the most challenging building types to design. Operating around the clock, they are also among the most energy-intensive. Every design decision carries weight because sustainability can never come at the expense of safety or security.

This summer, our interns are working alongside our engineers to see how engineering comes to life beyond the classroom. They're building technical skills, learning industry tools and gaining the hands-on experience that prepares them for their careers. What began as a way to support a valued team member’s next chapter became the start of Shrout Tate Wilson’s Charleston office, and the foundation for lasting partnerships across the Southeast.

From coastal healthcare facilities and historic renovations to performance venues and higher education spaces, our Charleston team brings a deep understanding of the region’s architecture and climate-specific needs.

Five years later, Charleston has become more than an office. It’s an important part of who we are and where we’re headed.

The new Scott County Hall of Justice is making news, and we couldn't be more proud of what this project means for Scott County and the City of Georgetown, Kentucky.

As the architect, BCI had the privilege of designing a facility built for the community it serves — modern, secure, and accessible for generations to come. None of it happens without a great team: thank you to Construction Manager Trace Creek Construction, MEP engineer Shrout Tate Wilson Consulting Engineers, the Administrative Office of the Courts, and the many subcontractors and partners who brought this vision to life.

For 20 years, James has been growing his career at STW. He spent the first 14 years in our CADD department before transitioning to the electrical team in 2021. Today his experience with CADD and BIM software supports the design process and development of construction documents. James brings a focus on consistency to his drawings and a passion for learning about the systems behind each design. We’re grateful for everything he has contributed over the last two decades.
