Efficient, Maintenance-Free Tank Mixing

ELMRIDGE ‘ME Series’ Liqui-Jet Mixing Eductors provide vigorous, highly efficient liquid circulation—without the need for powered impellers or rotating mechanical parts inside your tank.

Operating on the proven principles of our standard liquid-powered Jet-Apparatus, these mixing eductors use fluid dynamics to do the heavy lifting. Motive liquid is pumped through the eductor nozzle, exiting at a high velocity to create a localized low-pressure zone. Surrounding tank contents are drawn into this zone, where the motive liquid transfers its momentum to actively pump and circulate the fluid.

The result? For every single gallon of liquid pumped through the nozzle, up to five gallons are circulated within the tank.

Key Features & Specifications:

* Precision Targeting: Eductors can be directionally aimed at specific areas within the vessel to eliminate dead spots.
* Premium Materials: Available in Glass-Reinforced Polypropylene, PVDF, PVC, CPVC, Teflon®, Cast Iron, 316 Stainless Steel, Alloy 20, and Hastelloy C®. (Custom materials available upon request).
* Versatile Connections: Choose from threaded, flanged, or socket weld connections (note: socket weld not available for Cast Iron).

Pumping Solids Using Motive Liquid

ELMRIDGE Liqui-Jet Solids Eductors use liquid under pressure as the motive fluid, and effectively pump or convey granular solids or slurries. Inlet liquid pressures for this type of eductor are typically in a range from 10 to 100 psig. Solids flowrate and conveying distance are a function of eductor selection, as well as material properties and downstream piping considerations.

Liqui-Jet Solids Eductors are available with Dry-Feed hoppers and Washdown style hoppers. The Washdown style of feed hopper can dramatically increase the Suction Capacity and available Discharge Pressure of a given Eductor. This is achieved by ‘sealing’ the suction of the Eductor and reducing the amount of ambient air entrained with the solids. ‘TLS Series‘ Liqui-Jet Solids Eductors for Dry-Feed applications, and ‘TLST Series‘ Liqui-Jet Solids Eductors for use with Washdown Hoppers both combine the most efficient ratio of Motive liquid consumption with available Suction Capacity and Discharge Pressure. Liqui-Jet Solids eductors are typically available from stock in PVC, CPVC, Bronze/Brass, Cast Iron/Steel, 316L Stainless Steel, and all Carbon Steel construction. Abrasion resistant Ceramic Liners are also available.

Other materials are available upon request. Threaded or flanged, or Sanitary connections are standard.

A Guide to Pumping Gas with Liquid-Powered Eductors

ELMRIDGE Liqui-Jet Eductors, Exhausters, and Gas & Chemical Infusers use liquid under pressure as the Motive fluid for the purpose of pumping gases and/or vapors. ‘TLL Series‘ Liqui-Jet Eductors are relatively inexpensive liquid powered devices that will pump smaller volumes of gas/vapor, and create significant (28 in-Hg) vacuum. They are typically used where smaller volumes of gas are to be pumped and where liquid under pressure is abundant. ‘TLGT Series‘ Liquid-Jet Exhausters have a specially designed liquid nozzle that enables them to use smaller volumes of water than the ‘TLL Series‘, to draw larger volumes of gas/vapor to similar levels of vacuum.

‘TLG Series‘ Liqui-Jet Gas Scrubbers use smaller volumes of water to draw volumes of gas/vapor at low draft (low differential pressure) for the purpose of scrubbing condensable vapors and aerosols from the Suction stream. ‘TLE Series‘ Liqui-Jet Gas infusers use larger volumes of liquid to infuse gas as small bubbles in a liquid stream with the smallest possible pressure drop. Liqui-Jet Eductors, Exhausters, and Infusers are typically available from stock in PVC, CPVC, Bronze/Brass, Cast Iron/Steel, 316L Stainless Steel, and all Carbon Steel construction. Other materials are available upon request. Threaded, Flanged, or Sanitary connections are standard.

Understanding the Venturi Principle in Industrial Liquid Eductors

ELMRIDGE Liqui-Jet Eductors use water or other liquids under pressure as the Motive fluid, and operate on the venturi principle to pump other liquids or slurries. The high-velocity jet of liquid from the eductor nozzle entrains the suction liquid, creating a vacuum, and causing the suction liquid to be pumped. ‘TLL Series‘ Liqui-Jet Eductors are optimized to achieve the best combination of Suction Capacity and available Suction Lift using the least amount of Motive Liquid.

‘TLLM Series’ Liqui-Jet Eductors and ‘TLLT Series‘ Liqui-Jet Eductors combine higher Motive Liquid flowrates and somewhat lower Suction capacities with higher Discharge heads. Other models are available from stock with different operating characteristics. Liqui-Jet eductors are typically available from stock in PVC, CPVC, PVDF, Polypropylene, Bronze/Brass, Cast Iron/Steel, 316L Stainless Steel, and all Carbon Steel Construction. Other materials are available upon request. Threaded, Flanged, or Sanitary connections are standard.

What is a Jet Apparatus? Understanding Eductor Technology

‘Jet Apparatus’ is a term typically used to identify a piece of equipment that uses a fluid under pressure (liquid/gas/vapor), to perform work on, and in direct contact with, another medium (liquid/gas/vapor/granular solid), in a defined, predictable way.

The main principle governing the operation of typical Jet-Apparatus is Conservation of Momentum. When fluid pressure (potential energy), is converted into fluid velocity (kinetic energy), by means of a constricting or***ce (i.e. Converging Nozzle), there exists an associated useful pressure drop. For a constant primary fluid mass flowrate and constricting or***ce, this pressure drop is a function of the primary fluid pressure.

Jet-Apparatus uses this pressure drop to entrain a secondary medium (fluid or granular solid), within a chamber (i.e. Suction Chamber), that is at the pressure of the secondary medium, for the purpose of pumping, mixing, evacuating, etc. The Suction Capacity of a specific device is typically a function of the primary fluid velocity and mass flowrate [as well as properties of the suction material and downstream pressure].

Once entrained, the velocity of the mixture of primary and secondary media (kinetic energy), is converted back into pressure energy (potential), by means of a volumetric divergence (i.e. Diffuser). Available Discharge pressure is typically a function of the diffuser velocity and total mass flowrate.

The three main components of Jet-Apparatus (Converging Nozzle, Suction Chamber, Diffuser), are rigidly fixed in specific relation to each other, hence there are no moving parts, one of the main advantages to this type of device.

How Liqui-Jet Line-Type Heaters Optimize In-Line Liquid Heating

ELMRIDGE Liqui-Jet Line-Type Heaters are a highly efficient and economical means of heating small to large volumes of liquids ‘in-line.’

The liquid to be heated is accelerated through a specially designed narrow-angle full-cone converging nozzle where it emerges at high velocity as a multitude of liquid droplets. These liquid droplets provide a considerably larger surface area upon which steam can condense than a solid stream of liquid of equal volume flowrate would provide.

Steam is introduced into the liquid flow through the annular or***ce formed by the outside of the liquid nozzle and the inlet to the diffuser section of the heater.

Note that steam hammer is much less likely to occur in a heater of this style. ‘TLH Series‘ Liqui-Jet Line-Type Heaters do not require that steam pressure be higher than liquid pressure; in fact, designs are available that will draw steam at vacuum. Standard materials of construction are Bronze/Brass, Cast Iron/Steel, and 316L Stainless Steel. Other materials are available upon request. Threaded or Flanged Connections are standard.

A Guide to Gas-Jet Solids Eductors

Gas-Jet Solids Eductors use compressed gas (usually compressed air), as the Motive fluid, and effectively pump or convey dry granular solids. Standard eductors use low pressure/high volume blowers as the compressed gas source.

Inlet pressures for this type of eductor are typically in a range from 2 to 15 psig. Solids flowrate and conveying distance are a function of eductor selection, as well as material properties, and downstream piping considerations.

This type of eductor is usually gravity fed. ‘TGS Series‘ Gas-Jet Solids Eductors combine the most efficient ratio of Motive compressed gas consumption with available Suction Capacity and Discharge Pressure. Gas-Jet Solids eductors are typically available from stock in Bronze/Brass, Cast Iron/Steel, 316L Stainless Steel, and all Carbon Steel construction. Abrasion resistant Ceramic Liners are also available. Other materials are available upon request.

Threaded or flanged connections are standard. ‘TGST Series’ Gas-Jet Solids Eductors for higher inlet gas pressures are also available, and are typically used for vacuum applications where a vacuum hose is used to draw solids material into the eductor.
