Step 2: Measure the door opening at several points to confirm the size. Most storm doors are reversible, so decide which side the hinges should be on for optimal function.

Step 3: Decide on the swing and test-fit by hanging the door in the opening with a partner to hold it in place.

Step 4: Attach the hinge-side z-bar to the door per the manufacturer’s instructions. Then place the door into the opening to check a snug fit before driving final screws.

Step 5: Secure the hinge rail to the door casing, then install the drip cap and the latch-side rail.
