🥬 Your mother was not wrong. You must wash your produce. Food service professionals are required to. Wash produce thoroughly with One Packs® Veggie Prep™ . Cyclospora, a parasite can adhere tightly to fresh produce, especially leafy vegetables. Begin by removing damaged and outer leaves. Veggie Prep’s citric-acid and surfactant formula helps loosen surface soil, residues, debris and other contaminants. Submerge produce for 30 seconds to one minute, agitate thoroughly and scrub firm produce when appropriate. For an especially thorough cleaning process, wash and scrub up to three times. Always finish by rinsing completely with clean running water. Thorough washing may help reduce exposure, but no produce-washing method can guarantee complete removal of Cyclospora. Cyclospora is not a germ, rather it is a single-celled, spore-forming protozoan parasite. Use Veggie Prep only as directed. Washing produce reduces risk because the agitation, surfactant, and citric acid aid in loosening the Cyclospora and other microorganisms, the rinsing then flushes them away.
