Another project completed just in time for "deck season"!

Homeowners called us and wanted to tear down their existing deck and replace it with a composite decking material. We had a crew on site within a week. Turned an old, worn-out deck into a backyard getaway!

TimberTech composite decking, black aluminum handrailing, "catwalk" for additional backyard access, black aluminum lamp post lighting, and an added gate to keep the dogs contained!

Finally get to share an update on our newest sub-division coming to Grand Mere in the Fall of 2026!

Golf course view, walk-out lots nestled in the heart of Colbert Hills just off Grand Mere Parkway. Two separate sections all wrapped into one “Autumn Ridge” neighborhood. There will be 8 single-family lots in the first section. The second section features 5 lots (10 units) for townhomes.

This neighborhood will be our 5th in the Grand Mere community and we are extremely excited to build on that legacy. Speaking of legacy, you’ll need to contact Jodi Thierer with Legacy Realty of Kansas, LLC for more information.

As with all of our sub-divisions, we were able to name the neighborhood and the streets (with city approval)! The streets are proudly named after the two youngest members of our family, Cooper (Court) Thierer and Jones (Way) Potter. “Autumn Ridge” is an ode to our President, Larry Thierer’s signature landscape detail, the “Autumn Blaze Maple” tree.

Thierer Construction Inc. is a family owned and operated business that has been serving Manhattan, KS and the surrounding areas since 1984. We wanted to share some of that history and how we got here today.

Our family roots in this community go back way further though. 7 generations have been born and raised in this community.

Jakob Thierer (not the one born in 1989) was commissioned to help with the construction of Ft. Riley circa 1850. He built his family homestead (pictured below) in Manhattan, KS in 1855 and we have been here ever since.

Larry Thierer, President of Thierer Construction Inc., built his first custom home in 1985 (pictured below, 1732 Westbank Way). Many people may be surprised to learn that Kimball Avenue was still a gravel road at that time! Homes at that time cost around $100,000 to build. Many of you may not be surprised to learn that costs have increased since then😁! However, our commitment to this community hasn't changed.

As President of Thierer Construction, Larry has dedicated his professional (and often his weekend time) to our community. He served as President of the Manhattan Home Builders Association. Later on, he served on the state of Kansas Home Builders Association executive board. Larry has also spent the last few decades supporting Grand Mere in various roles, including his time as a permanent member of their Design Review Committee.

The building industry is constantly changing but at Thierer Construction, our values & priorities have always stayed the same. We would love the opportunity to help you build YOUR next generation right here in Manhattan, KS.
