In 1933, Ernest Farrar started fixing farm equipment out of a small shop in Norwich, Kansas. Nearly 100 years later, that same shop has grown into a vertically integrated foundry pouring precision ductile iron castings for customers nationwide.

From a blacksmith shop to CNC machining and turnkey casting solutions, we've grown, but our commitment to quality and our customers hasn't changed.

🏭 The story behind Farrar's Manhattan, KS facility

By the late 1990s, Farrar was ready for its next chapter of growth. Leadership began exploring what it would look like to expand the company with a second location that could carry Farrar's craftsmanship forward.

That search led to Manhattan, Kansas, a college town with deep Kansas roots. In 2000, we opened a new manufacturing facility and corporate offices at 301 Levee Dr. This location has grown into a full-scale manufacturing facility handling CNC machining, annealing and assembly, transforming ductile iron castings made in our Norwich foundry into precision-finished, ready-to-ship components.

Today, Manhattan isn't just a satellite location. It's where a big piece of Farrar's vertically integrated process comes together, backed by our ISO 9001:2015 certification and the same work ethic that started it all back in 1933.

In 1967, we added a green sand foundry to produce our own castings, a decision that would reshape our future. As demand grew, we made a pivotal choice: step away from our own product line and focus entirely on providing precision cast and machined parts for O.E.M. customers.
