Sometimes we opt for addition by subtraction. The original exposed beams carrying this balcony were pulling water into the building causing severe rot in the corner of the house. After digging out the rot and rebuilding the corner of the house, the customer agreed that instead of a bandaid fix we should save the rest of the structure from further damage by eliminating the deck. This Juliet rail still provides outdoor access and also preserves the beautiful exposed beams inside the home from future water damage.
