After the flooding our communities have already experienced this week, another round of heavy rain tonight could create additional problems. With the ground already saturated, please take a few minutes before heading to bed to make sure your home is as prepared as possible.

💧 Check that your sump pump is working.
📦 Move valuables away from areas that are prone to taking on water.
⚠️ Never enter standing water around electrical equipment.
🏠 If floodwater reaches your HVAC system, water heater or other mechanical equipment, do not attempt to restart it.
🚗 And please — never drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don’t drown.

That was a rough round of weather we had roll through this week. ⛈️🌧️

Folks around Milton, Huntington and across Cabell County saw heavy rain, high water, downed trees and power problems — and sometimes the trouble around your home doesn’t show up till after the storm has moved on.

Once things settle down, it’s worth keeping an eye on a few things around the house. 👇

🏠 Look for any signs of water where it shouldn’t be
❄️ Make sure your A/C is cooling and running like it normally does
🚿 Watch for drains that are slow or backing up after all that rain
⚡ If you lost power, pay attention to anything that isn’t working right now that it’s back on

And if any HVAC equipment was actually exposed to floodwater, **don’t try to fire it back up yourself.** Have somebody take a look at it first.
