The Frost team was honored to attend and present at last week's APT International Conference, "The Crossroads of Preservation," in Indianapolis.

Drawing inspiration from Indianapolis' rich heritage as a center of transportation, industry, craftsmanship, and preservation, the conference explored how historic resources can continue to shape thriving communities for generations to come.

During the conference, David Pirchio, PhD, PE, presented "Structural Health Monitoring, Evaluation, and Retrofit of Historic Clay Brick Masonry Church Towers," highlighting innovative approaches to assessing, preserving, and rehabilitating historic masonry church towers.

Last week, our team attended the Preserving Historic Places Conference, Indiana’s statewide preservation conference presented by Indiana Landmarks.⁠

As engineers specializing in historic preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse, we are proud to be an official supporter of this important event dedicated to preserving Indiana’s historic architecture and cultural heritage.⁠

During the conference, Frost Principal Kevin Q. Walsh, PhD, PE, SE, shared insights from a research initiative led by the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture. For this effort, Frost provided materials testing equipment and engineering expertise to support the evaluation of a century-old church in South Bend, Indiana.⁠

Frost Principal Kevin Q. Walsh, PhD, PE, SE was nominated and selected to the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). NIBS was created and authorized by the U.S. Congress in the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and is tasked to serve as the nation's authoritative source of findings and recommendations for the built environment.

NIBS is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 21 members. The President of the United States, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints six members, and the remaining 15 are nominated by and elected from the nation's construction industry.

The Frost team is in Atlanta this week for the 2026 Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX), connecting with industry leaders, sharing our expertise through technical presentations, and celebrating our projects recognized through this year’s award program.

Frost team members were recently in the Washington, D.C. area for university outreach visits and composites-focused government presentations.

One highlight was a visit to Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture, where our team shared insights on the journey of identifying, evaluating, researching, and approving innovative construction materials. The discussion focused on how material innovation can help advance sustainability and drive a more resilient future for the built environment.
