On May 20th, the riders of the 18th annual Run for the Wall passed right by our plant on their way to D.C. Our Cumberland Container family showed up with love and homemade signs to cheer them on!

This annual ride is such a moving tribute to our POWs, MIAs, and WIAs, and we are incredibly honored to show our support for those who sacrificed so much. Thank you to these incredible riders for keeping the memory alive, and thank you to our team for showing up with so much heart and hometown pride! ❤️

Monterey, you’ve shown us how much the Ely Walker Building means to our town's history, and Cumberland Container is dedicated to protecting that legacy. We’ve poured significant investment into updating the building and have shifted more of our business operations here, but we are still fighting a major battle against heavy rainwater.

Because the loading docks at the Ely Walker building are positioned at the lowest point on the block, all the runoff during times of intense rain pools at the loading docks, causing basement flooding—including just this past Sunday (5/24). This last rain showed that when the drains are blocked the water coming off the side street next to the Monterey Co-op can also find its way to the basement.

We greatly appreciate the City’s recent vote to improve the drainage across Holly St. and down Railroad Ave. 🙏 These pictures show the importance and immediacy of the need for this work.

Thank you to our city leaders and our understanding community for your continued support as we work to keep this Monterey landmark safe and dry! 🌧️🏢

We are proud to announce that our sister company, Cold Corr™️, has become the first company in the United States to order Interpac’s patented cold corrugator technology. Following successful operations in Germany and Canada, we are officially the third in the world to adopt this revolutionary manufacturing process.

This is a massive leap forward for sustainable packaging because it eliminates steam and high-temperature heating that lets us produce high-quality corrugated board with a smaller carbon footprint.

Last month, we asked the Monterey community for help piecing together the history of the Ely Walker Building at 203 S. Chestnut Street. To say we were blown away is an understatement! ❤️

Thanks to your memories and some deep digging of our own, we’ve put together a timeline of this historic landmark. From the stories of those who worked within those walls to the impact it had on our town, we’ve gathered it all into a new blog post: https://cumberlandcontainer.com/news/blog

But we are not done yet! We want to hear even more from you so we can document these stories before they begin to fade. We are working hard to utilize the entire building for growth and new jobs because we truly believe this building belongs to the people who built it.

⚠️ The Challenge: To bring the building back to its full potential, we have a hurdle to clear. In 2024, we experienced a major flood in the basement that caused considerable damage. The possibility of that reoccurring is what currently keeps us from being able to fully utilize the basement and move forward with our plans.

Our goal is to partner with the city to address these drainage issues. Once the risk of flooding is managed, we can safely invest in the site and bring new industry and jobs back to downtown Monterey.

As we shared recently, we’ve officially added six new KnoxBox trailers to our lineup. For a bit of perspective: these are the newest additions to a 55-unit fleet that’s ready to move when you are.

Growth is happening fast at Cumberland, but the goal remains the same: expanding our reach so we can deliver high-quality service and products to our customers, day after day.

Also, we’re currently prepping custom Cumberland Container wraps to bring our signature look to the highway.

They’re already hard at work. Soon, they’ll look the part, too.

Cumberland Container continues to grow.

We're pleased to share that we've added a new box truck to our fleet! A second addition for delivering smaller and emergency orders to support our customers.

You can see it here fresh off the lot, and soon it will be wrapped with custom Cumberland Container branding.

This addition complements our expanding trailer fleet and reflects our ongoing commitment to building the transportation capacity our customers need. As demand grows, so do we.
