Big news to share! Please help us congratulate Samantha Farley on her promotion to Assistant Plant Manager! 🎉

Samantha grew up right here in Monterey, and her connection to Cumberland Container runs deep. Her dad worked here for 15 years, and for a little while, the two of them even worked side by side. Samantha herself joined our team almost 17 years ago, starting out in general labor, hand-labeling boxes. From day one, she showed up with dedication, hard work, and a real willingness to keep growing, which led her all the way to plant leadership.

Samantha now holds a couple of firsts for us: she's the youngest Assistant Plant Manager we've ever had, and the first woman to hold the role at Cumberland Container. She leads and organizes our monthly safety meetings, as well as, collects the safety audits for each machine and posts them in the plant; these are only a few highlights among all the hats she wears.

Samantha has earned the respect of our entire workforce, including those who have been here for 30+ years, along with the Ownership, who have complete confidence in her. She thinks strategically and understands the importance of training and developing the workforce.

These days, you'll find her on the floor by 4 AM every single morning, making sure everyone and everything on the platform runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. We're proud to have Samantha as part of the Cumberland Container family, and even prouder of everything she's built here. Congratulations, Sam, you've earned this!

👏 Comment below and help us celebrate her!

Exciting developments continue with Cold Corr as we get ready for the machine's arrival! 🚧

Today was a big one! Our team poured the foundation after clearing out the space and adding new electrical power and water lines to get everything ready. It's not the flashiest part of the process, but it's the part that makes everything else possible.

We can't wait to show you more as this comes together. Stay tuned and check our website, there's a lot more to this story.

Yesterday, we were very saddened to learn of the passing of our beloved friend, colleague, and former plant manager, Mike Bowman. Mike was a member of the Cumberland Container for over 30 years. He left Cumberland in March of last year to run his farm and enjoy retirement. Mike was one of those rare leaders who treated everyone well. He was also genuinely concerned about the operations of the plant and was there every morning at 4:30 to open the plant, plan the day’s work, distribute the work orders, check who was there, and do everything he could to get work through the plant in a timely manner and to the specifications of our customers. While doing all that, he maintained a friendly attitude that made folks want to work for Mike. Many days he would walked over seven (7) miles all over the plant to check on orders, verify quality, and make sure everything was on time. He had a good sense of humor along with an unbelievable work ethic. No matter what the weather, Mike was there. He never let us down.

We offer our deepest condolences to his family, who lost a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Mike will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace.

Cumberland Container is excited to welcome Greg Rusk, President & CEO of Rusken Packaging, Inc., and Jim Baker, Chief Sales Officer, to Monterey, TN.

It's always good when industry friends make the trip out to tour our growing facility. Greg got a firsthand look at our operation, and we had a great conversation about what's coming with our Cold Corrugation technology. The interest from peers like Greg speaks to what this investment means for the industry.

Grateful for the visit and looking forward to what's ahead.

On Sunday, July 12th, Monterey UCNow Radio station highlighted Cumberland Containers' efforts to both expand and beautify the historic Eli Walker building in the Town of Monterey, TN. This means giving this historical building a new life and our community a new energy, right in the heart of town. Since Cumberland Container made the largest investment in its 57-year history by ordering the first cold corrugator into the United States, we will be moving some of the other operations into the Eli Walker building. This expansion means new opportunities and ventures for both the company and the community. Cumberland is currently recruiting for approximately 20 new positions in preparation for the new tech and other expansions.

Currently, we are still working hard with Monterey officials to address the drainage issues along Railroad Avenue using the designated state grant. We hope our collaboration, investment, and efforts together will help shape the city of Monterey and the community in an even better direction.

Your supply chain calls for boxes that protect your product and your sustainable goals with equal strength.

To make that a reality, Cold Corr of Monterey™️ brought the first cold corrugation system to the United States. Because this system forms cardboard flutes completely without steam, it cuts manufacturing carbon emissions by up to 61% per ton.

As the primary user of Cold Corr of Monterey™️, Cumberland Container is proud to lead the way in bringing this technology to the US market along with job opportunities for our local community.

The direct advantage? The final corrugated board is independently tested to be 20% stronger than similar board grades. You get tougher, flatter boxes for your products while automatically shrinking your footprint.

For over 50 years, Cumberland Container has focused on building long-term partnerships through practical innovation. We design and manufacture custom packaging that fits your exact product specifications and meets your sustainable goals.

Sustainability is a practical standard that makes your business stronger and more reliable.

This last week, Cumberland Container was honored to welcome Van Hilleary, who is running for Congress to represent our 6th District, to our facility in Monterey. Mr. Hilleary took the time to tour our plant, meet with our leadership, and speak directly to our entire hard-working staff about his goals for our region.

As the largest employer in Monterey, we take our responsibility to this community seriously. We are always looking for ways to innovate, expand, and bring the future of manufacturing right here to Tennessee. That’s why we’ve made a historic investment to purchase the very first Cold Corr machine in the United States, and only the third in the entire world! Since this machine doesn't exist anywhere else in the U.S., by bringing this first-of-its-kind technology to Monterey, we are creating new jobs, teaching new skills, and building a stronger future for our local workforce.

We had a great discussion with Van Hilleary about our vision for expansion, and we are incredibly grateful for his strong support and mutual agreement that when local businesses thrive, American workers win.

Thank you, Mr. Hilleary, for visiting the team and for standing with us as we continue to grow, innovate, and keep Monterey moving forward!

On May 20th, the riders of the 18th annual Run for the Wall passed right by our plant on their way to D.C. Our Cumberland Container family showed up with love and homemade signs to cheer them on!

This annual ride is such a moving tribute to our POWs, MIAs, and WIAs, and we are incredibly honored to show our support for those who sacrificed so much. Thank you to these incredible riders for keeping the memory alive, and thank you to our team for showing up with so much heart and hometown pride! ❤️

Monterey, you’ve shown us how much the Ely Walker Building means to our town's history, and Cumberland Container is dedicated to protecting that legacy. We’ve poured significant investment into updating the building and have shifted more of our business operations here, but we are still fighting a major battle against heavy rainwater.

Because the loading docks at the Ely Walker building are positioned at the lowest point on the block, all the runoff during times of intense rain pools at the loading docks, causing basement flooding—including just this past Sunday (5/24). This last rain showed that when the drains are blocked the water coming off the side street next to the Monterey Co-op can also find its way to the basement.

We greatly appreciate the City’s recent vote to improve the drainage across Holly St. and down Railroad Ave. 🙏 These pictures show the importance and immediacy of the need for this work.

Thank you to our city leaders and our understanding community for your continued support as we work to keep this Monterey landmark safe and dry! 🌧️🏢
