This week, Tom Arenholz, Globlal Product Manager, shared his expertise on mulling and mixing at the Ductile Iron Society’s Green Sand Production Seminar, helping attendees take a closer look at what happens inside the muller - and how energy, equipment, settings and testing can influence sand quality and process performance.

Several members of the Simpson team joined the conversation, connecting with foundry professionals to exchange ideas and share practical insights throughout the seminar.

Every foundry sand system is unique, understanding the process is key to improving performance.

Missed the seminar? Let’s keep the conversation going. If you’re looking to improve sand preparation, consistency or mulling performance, connect with our team. We’re here to help you get more from your process. https://tinyurl.com/4e5rzbjj

Building a strong foundation for ConMet’s next chapter.

We’re excited to see ConMet’s new Simpson equipment coming together, including two Multi-Coolers®, two Multi-Mulls® and two Hartley® controls, as their project progresses.

ConMet, a global supplier to the commercial vehicle and heavy-duty truck industry, is expanding its raw casting capabilities with a new iron foundry in Mexico. The facility will support growing demand for heavy-duty drive and brake systems while strengthening ConMet’s North American manufacturing footprint.

The ConMet project team has put thoughtful planning into the installation, including a sand tower designed to provide easy access for preventive and corrective maintenance.

But the collaboration goes beyond the equipment. As ConMet prepares for start-up, their team is working closely with Simpson on process recommendations to establish effective sand control. Roberto Ramirez and Claudio Guerrero, together with the Simpson Technical team, will continue to provide support throughout the process.

That’s the kind of partnership we value - when customers look to Simpson not only for technology, but for the expertise and support to help make their process successful.

We’re proud to be part of this important project and look forward to supporting ConMet as they bring their new foundry to life.

Meet Grace Schmitt, one of our engineering interns this summer.

A Mechanical Engineering student at Texas State University with minors in Applied Mathematics and Business Administration, Grace spent her summer gaining hands-on experience in our sand laboratory, performing sand tests, supporting equipment calibration, and helping develop standard operating procedures.

Internships like Grace’s provide valuable real-world experience while bringing fresh ideas and energy to our team. We’re proud to support the next generation of engineers and wish Grace all the best as she completes her studies and begins her career in manufacturing.

Put Every Grain to Work.

Sand plays a critical role in performance - and every grain represents an opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and get more from your process.

From mixing and cooling to testing, control, and reclamation, our technologies help foundries get more from their sand, reduce variability, improve process performance, and reclaim valuable material that might otherwise be lost.

The goal isn’t simply to use less sand. It’s to make every grain work harder and deliver more value, helping foundries improve efficiency, reduce waste, and operate more sustainably.

With more than a century of sand expertise, Simpson empowers foundries to Put Every Grain to Work.

There's no substitute for hands-on experience.

This summer, Engineering Intern Anthony Pineda had the opportunity to take on meaningful engineering projects at Simpson and yesterday shared his experience with our team.

From modernizing legacy drawings into 3D CAD models to supporting the production of critical equipment components, Anthony's internship went far beyond the classroom. He collaborated with engineers, worked directly with suppliers, solved real-world design challenges, and saw firsthand how engineering decisions impact manufacturing.

During his presentation, Anthony reflected on how the experience strengthened his technical skills, expanded his understanding of the foundry industry, and reinforced the importance of collaboration and continuous learning.

Thank you, Anthony, for sharing your journey and the valuable insights you gained along the way. We look forward to seeing all you accomplish in your final year at Purdue University and beyond!
