Checkout the Bluco employees that showed up ‘sporting’ their team pride for baseball’s opening day yesterday! Baseball music played on the radio and we loaded up our break room with hot dogs, cracker jacks, and game time snacks to celebrate.

Meet Maddie Baker, a Manufacturing Technician at Bluco, and a perfect example of what Women in Manufacturing Month is all about.

She came to Bluco after completing an education in welding. Less than four years into her career, Maddie has already contributed to some of the most ambitious builds in our shop’s history. Along the way, she’s continued to expand her skillset by learning to run parts on a lathe.

She’s also someone who values giving back to the community, and was honored as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year for the countless hours she gave to charity through our own Bluco Cares.

Ask her what advice she’d give to other young women considering manufacturing, and her answer is simple:
Don’t be afraid. Speak up. Follow your interests.

We think that's great advice, and we’re proud to recognize Maddie and the example she’s setting for those who will follow.

Most days at Bluco are all about engineering, manufacturing and problem-solving. But every once in a while, we create space for something different.

Through our charitable initiative, Bluco Cares, our employees have opportunities throughout the year to come together and support our local community. That’s when you’ll find us tying fleece blankets for a local homeless shelter, building bikes for families at Hesed House, cleaning up our adopted section of the Illinois Prairie Path, or helping athletes at the Special Olympics.
