Friday Career Tip: Your resume is not a job description. It is evidence of your impact.
Employers often understand the general responsibilities associated with a role. What they need to see is how well you performed those responsibilities—and what happened because of your work.
Compare these examples:
📌 Responsibility: Managed customer accounts.
📈 Impact: Managed [X] customer accounts while maintaining a [Y]% retention rate.
📌 Responsibility: Created marketing content.
📈 Impact: Produced [X] monthly campaigns that increased engagement by [Y]%.
📌 Responsibility: Supported project delivery.
📈 Impact: Coordinated [X] projects and helped the team meet [Y]% of its deadlines.
🔍 Review each resume bullet and ask:
Did I describe what I did—or did I show what I accomplished?
Use accurate numbers, specific outcomes, and strong action verbs whenever possible.
