In this video, I demonstrate why flowing nitrogen while brazing copper lines in HVAC systems is extremely important. We brazed a copper pipe without nitrogen and then cut the pipe open to inspect the inside. As you can see, the pipe develops heavy oxidation and carbon scale, which can contaminate the refrigerant system and damage components like TXVs and compressors.
Always flowing nitrogen while brazing helps prevent internal oxidation and keeps the refrigeration system clean and reliable.
This simple demonstration shows the difference between brazing with nitrogen vs without nitrogen and why professional HVAC technicians should always use nitrogen during installation and repairs.
