In 1987, James (Jim) Huffman started Black Gold Express (BGE) to meet heavy haul transportation needs in and around the state of Alaska. With 35 years of industry experience, BGE has the expertise and ability to manage every aspect of a project implementing best-in-class safety standards in remote locations and under some of the most extreme conditions. Over the years, Jim has built strong connections and a powerful reputation within the industry and has expanded his services to include several family-owned businesses. In 2022, Kinross Manh Choh awarded Black Gold as the trucking contractor for the ore haul project in Tetlin, Alaska, due to shared values of safety and commitment to the community. This dedicated project led to the formation of Black Gold Transport, LLC. This family-owned operation is honored to have been entrusted with the responsibility of providing safe ore hauling services, which will bring jobs and growth to the local economy when the project begins in 2024.
