Our current non-human biologics culture (culture ID 31585554, from a commercial educational supplier) is split into five study groups: one home habitat and two replicate pairs of ground-control and flight dishes.

AERO-554-A, home habitat: a single large tank that will never leave the lab. It is our stock and reference population.
AERO-554-B1 and AERO-554-B2, ground controls: petri dishes that will follow the launch group with the same handling and timing, but will not fly.
AERO-554-C1 and AERO-554-C2, flight dishes: petri dishes that will fly to the stratosphere on a future mission.
Each flight dish has a fixed ground-control partner: C1 is paired with B1, and C2 is paired with B2. Two replicate pairs help show whether any difference repeats, and give a backup if a dish is lost. Each pair will be logged the same way on the same schedule, including activity counts, water conditions, feeding and microscope video clips. The C dishes will also carry flight sensor logs and will be checked for revival after recovery. https://www.midwestsds.com/non-human-biologics-research.html
