The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is one of the largest trade associations in the United States, representing the residential construction industry. Founded in 1942, it serves as a powerful federation of more than 700 state and local home builders associations (HBAs).
Its membership includes over 140,000 individuals and companies, ranging from home builders and remodelers to architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Their core functions are:
• Advocacy & Lobbying: Acts as the voice of the housing industry, fighting for laws, codes, and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels that keep housing affordable and accessible.
• Economic Analysis: Tracks and analyzes economic trends, housing starts, and market data, acting as a data source for the industry.
• Education & Events: Host major industry events such as annual the International Builders' Show (IBS), and offer professional certifications and training.
Every June, the NAHB hosts its Spring Leadership Meeting in Washington DC, offering its members the ability to meet face-to-face on Capitol Hill with their respective U.S. Representatives and Senators to discuss the current issues facing the building industry. This week, many of us will be traveling to Washington DC to attend the Spring Leadership Meeting and to meet with our local politicians. This year’s event is June 9-13, 2026!
