Know what it takes to get a pipe crew moving in the morning and keep it moving safely all day? We'd like to meet you.

GCUC is hiring a Pipe Crew Foreman to lead one of our Panama City underground utility crews! In this role, you'll run the crew day to day, from scheduling the work and managing materials to training crew members and making sure every water, sewer and drainage installation meets the plans and the spec, on projects across Bay County and the surrounding Panhandle.

We're looking for someone who:
✔️ Has previous experience as a pipe foreman
✔️ Knows underground utility construction and water, sewer and drainage installation
✔️ Can read construction plans and blueprints
✔️ Communicates clearly with crews, project managers, engineers and subcontractors
✔️ Holds a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Monday Safety Tip → The clocks fall back Sunday, bringing earlier sunsets and more sun glare on the drive home.

That glare can make it harder to spot cones, lane changes, and crews working along the road.

As you approach a work zone, ease off the gas when you see the first construction sign and give yourself extra room to react.

A few extra seconds on your drive can help everyone get home safely.

Have you ever sat at a red light, watched a road crew and thought, “How many guys does it take to dig a hole… that’s why the job takes so long…?” 🙃

We get it… but they are actually doing one of the most tedious parts of the project.

Our highway 98 project is the perfect example. Our crews are working by hand to locate and expose existing water, sewer and gas lines before we start installing new underground utilities next week. Utility markings help guide us, but we still need to confirm exactly where those lines are with our own eyes.

Some of these holes are roughly 6 feet deep. That pole you see the guys working with? It’s a 5½-foot probe pole, helping them locate the lines as they work along the job site.

A lot of work goes into knowing where we can dig before the equipment ever gets started. Taking the time to do this now helps prevent a damaged line and an interruption to the services homes and businesses depend on.

We may have a “join the crew” day one day so everyone who doubts a crews productivity has a chance to dig a few 6 foot holes for themselves! Nothing like a free workout! 😂
