Our teams recently kicked off the loading, transportation, and safe disposal of 4,674 tons of low-level PFAS-impacted soil and 24,000 square feet of 30-mil HDPE liner as part of a fire training area decommissioning project.

ETT has successfully completed a major fueling infrastructure upgrade, enhancing capacity, safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Project Highlights:

🔹 Full-Service Engineering: Developed permit-ready drawings and secured approvals from all parties involved.

🔹 Safe Tank Closure: Removed fluids, conducted environmental sampling, and safely removed the existing tank.

🔹 Massive Boost to Fuel Storage Capacity: Installed a new UL-2085 double-wall steel tank, increasing unleaded fuel storage capacity to 9,450 gallons.

🔹 Tech Upgrades: Integrated Veeder-Root TLS-450Plus consoles and cellular modems for real-time monitoring and compliance.

🔹 Turnkey Startup: Relocated existing equipment, replaced hanging hardware, and completed precision calibration for immediate operational readiness.

From cleaning tanks to pumping vaults to removing equipment from older spaces, sometimes our team has to squeeze into a place that is small, dark, awkward and/or poorly ventilated - also known as confined space entry.

Annual confined space trainings are required for all employees and preparation for these jobs is thorough:

• Equipment inspections are held to assess equipment is functioning properly

• Air monitors are calibrated annually to detect and give warnings if conditions are changing as the job progresses

• Harnesses are inspected for cuts, wear, or twisting

• Respiratory face masks are cleaned after each use

• Tripods and retrieval systems are assembled and tested for functionality before entrant enters area

Any prolonged time in confined spaces where air is limited leads to the rental of supplied air and hoses to keep entrant safe. Brief safety meetings are conducted at each job site as refreshers to ensure personnel is prepared for site-specific conditions. Hand signals are also reviewed so entrant can communicate with attendants as needed. Constant monitoring by an attendant is required, and communication is always critical to making sure that our employees can safely accomplish whatever job is required.

A damaged manway skirt is more than just an eyesore — it’s a major risk to an underground storage tank system. Our team recently stepped in to replace a failing 37" skirt that was at risk of collapsing under heavy traffic.

What we did to ensure long-term stability:

• Total replacement: Broke out old concrete and installed a new heavy-duty skirt to support the multiport lid.

• Water management: Raised the manway 1 inch and added extra skirting to divert water and debris away from the STP sump.

• Winter ready: Installed a new snowplow ring on the spill bucket to prevent future impact damage.

From traffic control to the final concrete pour, we handled every detail to protect the UST system and keep this site safe and operational.

Stormwater runoff from highway rest areas can be a major source of pollution, carrying contaminants like gasoline, oil, sediment and pet waste directly into waterways.

E.T. Technologies was able to replace an old stormwater retention system at a stop in Wyoming that is adjacent to an important river system.

The job involved regrading the old pond system and installing a new liner to collect the stormwater that is generated during rain events that drain from all the parking lot areas.

We have a new (to us) piece of equipment at our Utah office! It is an 800-gallon capacity hydrovac trailer used for hydro-excavation of soils.

A big part of our environmental services includes drilling for soil and groundwater testing. It has become a common practice with our clients to request that each soil boring be physically cleared above and beyond the standard Blue Stake markout for utilities prior to drilling. This is done either with a hand auger or hydrovac work. The hand auger is very labor intensive and often does not work. With this new hydrovac trailer we will be able to do the work ourselves, saving our clients time and money.

We will also be able to use this trailer for industrial cleaning purposes to clean out clogged storm drains or catch basins. It comes with its own water source and pressure washer to really clean every nook and cranny where needed!

One aspect of our waste management program is to determine if waste is hazardous, or regulated, and where we can properly dispose of the waste.

We have employees trained to sample, and who are knowledgeable in understanding lab reports and determining hazards.

Standard tests required for waste profiling include: pH, Oil & Grease, RCRA 8 Metals, Flashpoint, % Passing Filter (TCLP), and Volatile Organics.

Typical sampling for E.T. Technologies include:

Is your company seeking a better way to track on-site fuel flow and fueling transactions for your equipment?

Our Fuel Equipment Solutions (FES) team recently helped a local landfill modernize its fuel authorization and tracking systems on two service trucks and three mobile trailers as well as two fixed tanks.

With this system, we tap into the fuel lines to install an external meter, as well as an external pulser kit, to track pulses during pumping, and we install a solenoid valve to control the flow of fuel when authorized. This allows fuel to be dispensed only after it is activated by an authorized user.

The system is able to interpret fuel flow and track transactions and upload that data immediately, allowing sites to better track real-time inventory while also preventing unauthorized transactions.
