My Google Business Profile got flagged as a scam… 2 days after I created it.

And the reason honestly blew my mind.

I don’t know if anyone else here has run into this, but when Google flags your business, they don’t actually tell you what you did wrong.

So we spent the last week playing detective.
Tweaking everything. Double-checking details. Even looping in Gemini to see if we were missing something obvious.

For context — we’re a real business. Real projects. Real clients. (I promise 😂)

After fixing everything we could think of, we submitted our appeal… feeling pretty confident.

Denied.

Back to the drawing board.

This time, digging deeper, the only explanation we could land on was this:

👉 We had too many 5-star reviews too fast.

When our profile finally went live, I did what I thought you’re supposed to do — I reached out to past clients, suppliers, partners… anyone we’d worked with — and asked for honest feedback.

And they showed up.

A lot of them.

All 5 stars.

Turns out… that can look suspicious to Google.

Some reviews got flagged. Then more. Then suddenly — the entire profile was gone.

In hindsight, it makes sense:
When you do great work for 18 months without a Google presence, then ask everyone at once to share their experience… it doesn’t look “natural” to an algorithm.

Lesson learned.

Still — I can’t help but laugh a little at the irony.

Do good work → get great reviews → get flagged as a scam.

Anyway — if anyone here has dealt with this, has advice, or (long shot) knows someone at Google… I’m all ears.

Would love to get our profile back up so people can actually find us when they search.

Value always shows itself eventually.

And it’s rarely hiding behind the lowest bid.

I talk with potential customers almost every day. Most of those conversations are spent answering questions, solving problems, and trying to help people figure out what’s best for their project.

Sometimes those clients end up choosing another option. My price usually lands somewhere in the middle, and I’ve never tried to compete on being the cheapest.

Instead, we compete on customer service and doing excellent work.

Every now and then, when I explain that, something clicks. You can see it on their face. That’s when I know we’re going to work well together.

Because I’m going to make promises I can actually keep.

Then I’m going to do everything I can to overdeliver on those expectations.

When we finish a court project, I want the client to walk away feeling like they made an incredible investment—not just in the finished court, but in the whole experience.

Something that was smooth, professional, and even enjoyable in an industry that can sometimes be full of headaches.

Here’s the interesting part:

About 30% of my work last year came from people who had already hired the lowest bidder… and ended up with a nightmare situation that had to be fixed.

So if you’re ever choosing between contractors, and one of them takes the time to answer your questions, communicate clearly, and genuinely help you understand your project—but their bid is a little higher…

Go with them.

Value always shows itself eventually.

And in the long run, it’s always worth it.
