We encourage all farmers to look up and make a plan noting the location of all overhead lines before you begin work in your fields. Especially while operating tall machinery like grain augers, combines, or sprayers.

You've probably seen these around and wondered exactly what they are. These are called pad-mount transformers, and you'll often see them in yards and neighborhoods where electric lines are underground. Their job is to take higher-voltage electricity and lower it to a voltage that can be safely used in homes and businesses.

They may look harmless, but they contain high-voltage electrical equipment. Never touch, climb on, or play around them. If you notice a transformer that looks damaged, has been hit, is open or appears to have another problem, please stay away and call us at 260-726-7121.
