HE&M Saw

HE&M Saw For over 60 years, HE&M Saw has been the leader in new band saw technology. HE&M Saw was founded in January, 1964 by Gerald R. Harris in Livermore, California.

Having worked his way through engineering school and tool instrument training, he gained a first hand knowledge of a variety of machinery during the post World War II industrial boom. He also began building customized machinery for acquaintances, building a reputation and a following at the same time. One project led to another and he finally moved out of his garage and set up shop in an 1,100 squ

are foot facility in Hayward, California. He had 3 employees and himself. That was the beginning of HE&M Saw. In 1976, he wanted a more centrally located facility and access to a skilled labor force. He moved the company to Mid America Industrial Park in Pryor, Oklahoma. In Mid-2005, Doug Harris became the President and CEO of HE&M Saw. Doug is
upgrading with the latest technology and manufacturing methods to ensure
that HE&M Saw remains competitive in the market and continues to provide a
high quality band saw to our customers. Today there are 220 employees in more than 250,000 square feet of space. Now, HE&M SAW manufactures over 72 different models of production band saws for the metalworking industry including Vertical, Horizontal, Plate and Double Column saws with capacities ranging from 12" x 12" to 80" x 80". Material handling tables and other time saving features are available as options. HE&M Saw is American designed, engineered and manufactured. With band saws in operation not only all over the USA but in Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the Pacific Rim, HE&M Saw continues to lead the new saw technology. With innovations like the Blade Enhancer, Cut Watcher, multi-guide arms saws, and computer controlled saws, HE&M Saw is revolutionizing the band sawing industry with more patented innovations than any other band saw manufacturer. From the original patent on bar feed systems to the remarkable technological advances HE&M Saw is making today, HE&M has continually proven to be a leader, not a follower, in the industry. To new customers, HE&M Saw says look at our old saws, then try to buy a used one. It won’t be easy because there are not many for sale. Most of our old saws are still in operation at their original installations and doing a great job. Our old saws are the best reason to look at the new HE&M Saws.

Production is back in full swing here at HE&M Saw, and we’re getting back to what we do best. We’ve still got a little Oklahoma heat to get through, but cooler shop days are getting closer. 😅

Getting to IMTS starts long before we ever reach Chicago.

Before the trip begins, there’s a lot to coordinate. Our crew spent time loading two trucks with the machines, equipment, and everything needed to bring HE&M Saw to IMTS. 👍

Now that the loading process is underway, Chicago is getting closer. IMTS runs September 14- 19, 2026.

"When it comes to bandsaw blades, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Blade material, tooth design, spacing and set all play a role in how a blade performs—and choosing the right combination can make a big difference in cut quality, blade life and overall saw performance."

This month’s Feature Spotlight: Blade Edition takes a closer look at the key factors to blade performance, from blade materials and tooth geometry to guide spacing and knowing when it may be time for a new blade.
