A hot bearing can be one of the earliest signs that something isn’t right. For ball-bearing motors, keeping an eye on operating temperature can help catch issues like lubrication problems, misalignment, overloading, vibration, or inadequate cooling before they lead to a larger failure!

As a general guideline:
• 160°F–180°F: Typical operating range or lower
• Above 185°F: Time to investigate
• Above 200°F for an extended period: Shut down and inspect

A little monitoring can go a long way toward preventing unexpected downtime!
