Columbus County Schools held a topping-out ceremony for the new East View PK-8 School today. Steel Technology was proud to partner with Metcon Construction to provide the steel package for this incredible new school. As always, Brothers STEEL Erectors & Welding LlC did an amazing job for us with steel er****on!

The new East View Elementary-Middle School in Bolton, North Carolina, is a 118,235-square-foot PK–8 educational facility designed to serve up to 950 students on a 40-acre campus. The new school will provide a modern, student-centered learning environment for families throughout eastern Columbus County.

The facility will feature updated classrooms, a media center, gymnasium, cafeteria, and collaborative spaces designed to support student engagement, growth, and connection across grade levels. The consolidated campus will provide students and educators with a flexible, welcoming environment that supports both academic achievement and long-term community needs.

🌟 Please join us in celebrating Kyle Riddle on his 10-year work anniversary. Over the past 10 years, Kyle has been a cornerstone of our Production Team. He first started out as a Welder/Fabricator and then moved over to our small shop to operate the Soitaab Plasma Plate Machine. Kyle processes all of our plate parts in house and is a tremendous asset to our team. Thank you for an amazing 10 years, Kyle—we are so lucky to have you on the team! 🙌

Recently, several of our team members attended the Virginia Carolinas Structural Steel Fabricators Association Annual meeting in Isle of Palms, SC. This event is a great opportunity for our team to remain up-to-date on what is going on in the structural steel industry and to strengthen our relationships with industry peers and suppliers.

VCSSFA is a regional structural steel fabricator’s association for fabrication companies located in NC, SC and VA and is committed to promoting the use of fabricated steel and allied products. VCSSFA offers continuing education opportunities to members and industry participants during these events.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a critical time dedicated to raising awareness about su***de prevention, supporting those affected, and fostering a culture of mental health and well-being. ;💜💙🎗️

The construction industry faces a severe mental health crisis, with a su***de rate roughly four times higher than the general population. Construction workers account for nearly 18% of all su***de deaths with a reported industry code, even though they make up only about 7.4% of the US workforce. Common stressors are high pressure work environments, tight project deadlines, chronic stress, workplace injuries, chronic pain, mental health challenges, problems at home and a historically macho culture that often discourages workers from discussing their problems or seeking help.

Together we can break the stigma attached to mental health by talking about it! “It’s okay not to be okay.” If you or someone you know is struggling, please use the following resources:

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Steel Technology, Inc.

This holiday is about the people who show up every day to get the job done — the welders, fabricators, machine operators, detailers, estimators, project managers, painters, drivers, erectors, and shop crews who turn drawings into steel structures that last for decades.

Today we pause from our work to thank every person who keeps projects moving. The buildings, warehouses, and structures across this country don’t go up without you! Happy Labor Day!

We recently celebrated 🥈TWO YEARS🥈 of injury-free work and celebrated today with a company luncheon. We would like to give a huge shout-out to our employees for working safely EVERY DAY, wearing required PPE, reporting safety concerns and doing their part in making STI a safe place to work. 🦺🧯⚠️

Structural Steel fabrication accidents and injuries occur in many different ways, but they often involve cuts, lacerations, burns, eye damage, slips/trips/falls, muscle strain and being struck by moving material. These hazards are why working safely is a must! We are constantly improving our safety program and are proud of our accomplishments in this area. THANK YOU TEAM! 🤜🤛
