Did you know your policy already has a tool for this?

Here is the situation a lot of drivers run into. Your shop repairs your car with factory parts and follows the manufacturer’s procedures exactly, and that final bill comes in higher than what insurance first offered. Then you get asked to pay the difference out of pocket.

That is where Right to Appraisal comes in.

Did you know a damaged wheel is not always safe to just fix and put back on?

After a collision, the edge or the surface of a wheel can get damaged. A common fix is called wheel reconditioning, and it can involve heat, straightening, welding, or cutting the surface back down.
Here is the part most people never hear. The car makers themselves say no.

âś“ Audi says a reconditioned wheel does not meet factory specifications and is not an acceptable repair

âś“ GM does not endorse welding, bending, or straightening a collision damaged wheel

âś“ Rivian says reconditioning can affect the strength of the wheel, and reconditioned wheels do not meet their standards

âś“ Toyota says it is not approved on their vehicles and can compromise safety and cause a loss of control

That is why we check what your car maker says first. If they say do not recondition it, Flower Hill does not do it. A new factory wheel goes on your car instead.

That is what a proper repair looks like.

Do you know your rights if your insurance totals your car?

Most policies include something called Right to Appraisal. It means you can hire an independent adjuster, the insurance company hires one too, and the two of them agree on a fair value for your car.

If the settlement offer comes in below what you believe your car is worth, this is the process that protects you. It costs little out of pocket, and it exists so both sides land on a fair number.

Your steering column could be collapsed and you would never know it.

This 2025 Lucid came in with a very minor rear-end hit. Following Lucid’s repair guidelines, we measured the steering column and found it had collapsed in the impact. Left alone, that creates an unsafe condition for everyone in the car if another collision ever happens. So we replaced it and completed a proper, safe repair.

This is why a post-collision safety inspection matters. Even minor hits can hide serious damage. Every system needs to be checked.

Ever wonder why we sometimes paint more than just the damaged panel?

When we repaint a quarter panel, the clear coat needs to continue onto the rest of the body side, not stop at the panel’s edge. Our paint manufacturer, Axalta, says stopping the clear at an edge can cause the paint to fail later. Most carmakers also won’t honor their paint warranty on a repair done that way.

Insurance companies sometimes ask us to paint only the damaged panel to keep costs down. But we won’t do a repair that could cost you your paint warranty.
