OXBO recently completed the successful transport and installation of a transformer for a project in Bastrop, Texas. The load measured 199'2" long, 16' wide, 20'3" high, and weighed a total of 678,000 pounds. The move utilized a pull truck, 12 lines of Goldhofer equipment, a push truck, and covered 322 routed miles.

Success began long before the transport hit the road. Our team conducted multiple site visits to verify accessibility and identify any improvements needed to accommodate the transport configuration. When weather conditions prevented site access the week prior to the move, OXBO worked closely with the customer to develop a solution and coordinated a large-scale site matting operation to keep the project on schedule.

Due to the overall height of the load, additional safety measures were implemented, including two extra bucket truck units. The final es**rt configuration included four motorcycle police officers, four bucket truck crews, multiple high-pole es**rts, pilot cars, and dedicated supervision throughout the move.

The transformer arrived on site over the weekend without incident. Following delivery, our crew completed the jack-and-slide operation safely and successfully. Even after an unexpected placement adjustment was required due to revised site measurements, the team adapted and completed the project on schedule.

Most importantly, the project was executed without incidents and delivered another successful outcome for our customer.

At OXBO, challenges are opportunities to demonstrate what experienced planning, teamwork, and ex*****on can accomplish.

The final phase of the radome project took place at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, where OXBO supported the removal of the existing radome and the installation of the new XBR2 system atop the SBX-1 radar platform.

Historic infrastructure, tight working areas, and strict ground pressure limitations required careful planning and engineered solutions. After the REC was offloaded and staged, the radome was once again upended to a vertical position using custom tripping frames, specialized rigging, and 12 lines of Goldhofer PST.

More than 200 personnel supported the operation as the radome was lifted from the REC, carefully swung into position, and installed onto the upgraded radar ringwall.

Once secured, the radome was inflated and the system brought online — marking the successful completion of a complex, multi-phase project that spanned the continental United States and the Pacific Ocean.

From engineering and trial deployment to cross-country transport, marine loadout, and final installation, the project represented thousands of hours of planning and ex*****on.

✔ 1,200+ engineering hours
✔ 7,000+ man hours
✔ 0 incidents

A project of this scale takes expertise, teamwork, and precision.

And we’re proud to have been part of it.

Not every route is available when you're moving more than 1.3 million pounds.

Every mile of this 7.5-mile transport required careful engineering and coordination. To safely reach its destination, the route utilized a private roadway, temporary infrastructure modifications, and one of the only bridges along the permitted route capable of supporting the load after extensive engineering analysis.

The move was completed using 48 Goldhofer PST/E self-propelled axle lines configured in a 24-line double-wide arrangement, supported by OXBO es**rt vehicles, law enforcement, utility crews, and specialized equipment working together every step of the way.

These photos capture just one chapter of the journey. Stay tuned as we share more from this project in the coming weeks.

Nine months of planning went into transporting this 642,000-pound load across 700 miles.

Before the cargo moved, the OXBO team evaluated multiple trailer configurations—including custom-build options—and reviewed more than 10 possible routes. Preparing the final route required over 450 man-hours of tree trimming following an environmental agency review, along with coordination from 29 utility companies.

Measuring 25 feet 3 inches wide, 24 feet 5 inches tall and 200 feet long, the transport took nearly 13 days to complete. The OXBO crew accrued 780 man-hours during the move.

At various points, the convoy included as many as seven law enforcement es**rts, four civilian es**rts, seven bucket trucks, two boom trucks and state agency witnesses.

Watch how months of planning and coordination came together to safely complete this complex transport.
