I've just registered for Space Tech Expo USA 2026. Who else is going?

We won't have a booth space this year, but I will be out walking the show floor both days; please message me here on Linked-In or email me at [email protected] if you would like to connect at the show!

I can't wait to join thousands of space manufacturing and technology professionals in the brand new location of Anaheim, CA, June 3-4.

πŸ”₯ When EV fires happen, seconds matter.
Traditional extinguishers are often not enough for lithium-ion battery fires.

That’s why we developed a Carbon Fiber Fire Blanket β€” designed specifically for new energy vehicle (NEV) fire suppression.

πŸ›‘ Key Performance Highlights
βœ” Instant temperature resistance up to 3200Β°C
βœ” 1000Β°C continuous protection for ~90 minutes
βœ” 0 after-flame | 0 smolder | No melting or dripping
βœ” High flame retardancy with LOI > 42
βœ” No re-ignition after blanket removal

βœ” Lighter than traditional carbon fiber fabrics
βœ” Washable and reusable, suitable for repeated emergency use

πŸš— Engineered for NEV & High-Risk Fire Scenarios
β€’ Electric vehicle battery fires
β€’ Charging stations & parking garages
β€’ Automotive workshops & industrial sites
β€’ Emergency response & fire rescue operations

This heavy-duty carbon fiber fire blanket effectively isolates oxygen, suppresses flames, and prevents re-ignition, even under extreme temperatures β€” while remaining practical, durable, and easy to handle.

Carbon fiber tow/roving & yarn β€” the raw fiber before it becomes fabric.

Think of tow as a bundle of thousands of continuous carbon filaments; yarn is the same idea, often lightly twisted for handling.

β€’ Available in filament counts – 1K, 3K, 6K, 12K, 24K (the β€œK” = 1,000 filaments)
β€’ High tensile strength & stiffness – the building block for fabrics, prepregs, and filament winding
β€’ Versatile – used for weaving fabrics, braiding, filament winding, or adding localized reinforcement

Pick the K-size that matches your process and the properties you need.

We stock carbon fiber tow/yarn in common K-sizes. Message us and we’ll help you select the right one for your application.

Carbon fiber sheets & plates β€” rigid panels ready to cut, drill, and use.

Unlike fabrics or tapes, these are cured solid panels β€” pre-impregnated carbon fiber that’s already consolidated into a flat plate.

β€’ Ready-to-machine – cut, drill, or waterjet to your shape without wet layup
β€’ High stiffness & low weight – excellent strength-to-weight ratio for brackets, covers, chassis parts
β€’ Consistent thickness & finish – available in standard thicknesses with 3K plain or twill faces in matte or gloss finish

Choose the face weave you want (plain for a tight, uniform look; twill for a more diagonal pattern) and the thickness (0.5mm to 10mm from stock, other thicknesses available upon request) that fits your part.

We carry carbon fiber sheets and plates in a range of sizes and thicknesses. Message us and we’ll help you choose the right one.

Multiaxial & Biaxial carbon fiber β€” when you need strength in more than one direction

Unlike unidirectional tape (all fibers running one way), these fabrics lay fibers in multiple orientations in a single layer.

β€’ Biaxial – fibers run in two directions, typically 0Β°/90Β° (or Β±45Β°). Great for balanced strength in both axes and faster layup than stacking two UD plies.

β€’ Multiaxial – fibers run in three or more directions (e.g., 0Β°/Β±45Β°/90Β° or Β±45Β°/90Β°). One fabric gives you strength in multiple axes, cutting down layup time and handling.

Both reduce the number of plies you need to build a quasi-isotropic laminate, and the stitching holds the fibers flat for good resin flow.

We stock biaxial and multiaxial carbon fiber in various weights and orientations. Message us and we’ll help you match the fabric to your load case.

Unidirectional carbon fiber β€” when you want strength in one direction

Unlike woven fabrics where fibers interlace over and under each other, UD tape runs all fibers parallel in a single direction.

β€’ Maximum stiffness & strength – 100% of the fibers align along the load path
β€’ Ultra-light – no interlacing means less resin and less bulk
β€’ Tailored design – you stack plies at different angles to control where the strength goes

It’s the go-to for beams, spars, tubes, and any part where the load is mostly one-way.

We carry UD carbon fiber in various areal weights and widths. Message us and we’ll help you pick the right layup for your project.

Spread tow carbon fiber β€” what makes it different than a standard woven 3k, 6k, or 12k carbon fiber?

If you’ve handled regular woven carbon, spread tow feels different the moment you touch it.

β€’ Paper-thin tape – the tow is spread into a wide, flat ribbon, so the fabric is much thinner than a typical 3K weave
β€’ Cleaner surface – almost no crimp, so the surface is flatter and you use less resin
β€’ Weight savings – higher fiber volume fraction = more stiffness without adding weight

It’s the go-to for parts where every gram counts and you want that tight, flat weave pattern.

We stock spread tow in various weave patterns. widths and weights. Message us and we’ll help you choose the right spec for your projects.

Plain weave or twill β€” does it really matter?

Yes. Picking the wrong one can slow your layup and cause wrinkles.

β€’ Plain Weave – tighter, more stable, less drape (great for flat panels)
β€’ Twill Weave – drapes smoothly, conforms to curves (ideal for complex shapes)

If your part has curves, twill is usually the better choice. The right weave can make or break your process efficiency.

We offer a wide range of carbon fiber weaves and weights β€” contact Imsent Composites and we’ll help you choose the right one.
