Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Engineer role based in South Sioux City, NE. The Engineer will support metal fabrication, casting, and manufacturing operations by designing and optimizing processes, reviewing technical specifications, and ensuring products meet customer and industry standards. Daily responsibilities include creating and interpreting engineering drawings, collaborating with production teams to resolve technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and safety. The role also involves coordinating with quality control staff on inspections, documenting process changes, and assisting with troubleshooting equipment or workflow challenges. The Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines, support customer requirements, and maintain compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in mechanical or industrial engineering principles, including materials, manufacturing processes, and product design.
Ability to read and develop engineering drawings and CAD models; familiarity with common CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is preferred.
Experience or coursework related to metal fabrication, casting, structural components, or similar heavy manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of quality management systems, process control, and basic lean or continuous improvement methodologies.
Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze technical issues and implement practical, data-driven solutions.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with production teams, leadership, and customers.
Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing setting, including occasional time on the shop floor and in fabrication or casting areas.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Previous experience in a foundry, steel services, structural fabrication, or contract manufacturing environment is a plus.
