We hope everyone has been safe digging out from the snow storm.
As we all clean up, don't forget to clear the snow away from outside vents and drains to prevent damage to your home, foundation, plumbing, and ventilation systems.
As temperatures drop further the next few days, heating systems will take on added stress. Here's a couple things you can do to help your home:
- Change the filter if it's been a few months. It helps air flow.
- Close blinds and curtains to preserve heat inside your home.
- Close vents to unused rooms.
- Roll up towels and block the bottom of doors to trap warmer air or to prevent drafty rooms from affecting other rooms.
Systems perform normally with a 20 degree differential. Anything more than that is your system working overtime to get to temperature. Unfortunately, when the system is under pressure to perform, that's when problems arise.
