Cape Cod Astronomical Society The Cape Cod Astronomical Society is a group of amateur astronomers who enjoy looking at the cosmos and teaching others about our craft.

We are dedicated to:

Thank you to Peter Pilon and Charlie Worrick from Cape Cod Astronomy Society for creating a wonderful poster exhibition and photos for Chatham Earth Week. The poster series are running from April 1 - 30: "Making a Case for Dark Skies at the Eldredge Public Library, Chatham"

There will be a Stargazing event at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge on April 18th. Please go to the website above and Register for this event. The Star tour will be from 8:30 - 9:30pm. The event is free.

Astrophotography

A comprehensive astrophotography program, 'From the Ground Up' is forthcoming from CCAS later this year, currently in development. Led by Peter Pilon and several CCAS members, the astrophotography group will utilize cutting-edge, affordable smart scopes as well as the Werner Schmidt Observatory's state-of-the-art dome telescope. Following the organizational phase, a course will be offered to members and friends on astrophotography. Interested individuals are invited to express their interest by contacting CCAS at [email protected].

Peter Pilon and several other CCAS members will be participating in the Chatham Eldredge Library exhibition of astrophotography running during month of April. There will also be a free stargazing event at the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday April 18th at 8:30 PM (rain date is April 19th at 8:30 PM).

The Cape Cod Astronomical Society is pleased to announce its monthly meeting and presentation by Dr. Jacquelynne Milingo, Director of Astronomy at The Maria Mitchell Association.

Her topic will be Stewarding the Past, Present, and Future of Astronomy at the Maria Mitchel Association.

The talk will be held at the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School library on April 2 at 7:30pm. Our evening presentation will also stream via Zoom:

CCAS is pleased to announce star party at Werner Schmidt Observatory at 7:45 PM Thursday March 27th. It will be weather pertaining and if clouds do hover over us, we will have a few indoor activities; a talk and tour of the dome telescope. We hope to see you there!
