“Holistic efficiency” is the focus of a recent article by Erika Chaffey for DatacenterDynamics where Danfoss Climate Solutions SVP and CTO, Dietmar Baro, is quoted as saying that the only way to achieve this is by “overseeing each and every critical component across the facility.” He states that it is “not only about having a great product, it’s about how it works when integrated into a system.”

As these data centers grow in scale, so will the complexity of the systems and infrastructure needed to operate them. This means more critical components, higher levels of strain, and increased areas of potential failure. In order to achieve improved efficiency, each element must be optimized. This includes resistance to environmental conditions.

The IEEE attributes 20 – 30% of switchgear failures to humidity and condensation. Industry data suggests that a staggering 70% of all transformer failures are due to deterioration of insulation with “moisture being the primary driver.” Imagine being able to mitigate this while improving functionality and longevity with a simple PTC thermal management component from DBK USA.
