I asked Chad Broyles how he'd describe Majestic Steel and his answer might surprise you.

The more we talked, the more I got it. They've got a full-time AI team, a customer platform called M-Hub, and a weekly market report tracking iron ore prices, auto demand, housing starts, you name it. Nearly 50 years family-owned, nine locations, and still making moves nobody else in this space is making.

We covered a lot in this one. Chad's 15-year journey across seven states, how tariffs are leveling the playing field for domestic producers, and the demand surge from advanced manufacturing coming back to the U.S. He also told me about a downstream venture building factory-constructed, hurricane-rated steel homes that you genuinely cannot tell apart from a traditionally built house.

AI isn't here to replace what you do. It's here to handle what's keeping you from doing it.

Every industry is racing to adopt AI. Steel is being strategic about it.

In Part 2 of our conversation with Philip Bell, President and CEO of the Steel Manufacturers Association, we get into one of the most talked about topics in manufacturing right now and what it actually looks like inside the steel industry.

Phil makes a point that's hard to argue with: AI can't handle hot molten steel. And that's not a knock on the technology. That's just reality. The steel industry operates in one of the most demanding environments in the world, and that demands a thoughtful approach to where new technology fits and where it doesn't.

Robotics and automation have their place. So does the human element. Knowing which is which is what separates good operations from great ones.
