Yesterday Burns completed a complex operation on Toelles Rd in Wallingford. The takeaway? Communication is key.

36,000 lbs of steel — 80’ and 40’ I-beams from Chicago Steel — arrived via Independent Transport on oversized permits with full es**rt. None of it moves without people talking to each other.

Crossing Amtrak’s high-speed tracks in reverse meant coordinating with Amtrak for track protection. North Haven and Wallingford PD closed Route 5 completely. Bay Crane staged a 60-ton crane for the pick.

Before a single pick was made, we called a Safety Stop — crane operator, rigger, and signal person confirmed out loud, with the exclusion zone, drop zone, and swing zones identified by everyone on site.

Multiple companies. Two police departments. An active high-speed rail line. One outcome, zero surprises — because everyone communicated.

The 7th Annual Edward T. Burns Jr. Golf Outing at was another unforgettable two days filled with love, support, generosity, and community.⛳️❤️

From all of us at Burns, and especially the Burns family, thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s event so special. Each and every year, this outing continues to grow, and it’s because of the incredible people who show up, support the foundation, and help us carry on such a meaningful tradition.

Our crews recently completed paving operations in Monroe, delivering a smooth, high-quality finished surface while maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the operation.

Producing consistent results in the field requires more than experienced crews — it also requires a continued investment in modern equipment and technology.

Burns led the milling phase on Route 104, removing the existing asphalt across approximately 1.5 miles as part of a resurfacing effort with the CTDOT.

This is the kind of work that doesn’t get seen during the day—but it’s what keeps projects moving.

Crews worked overnight to keep traffic flowing while still delivering consistent progress.

It’s a coordinated effort that depends on experience, communication, and a clear understanding of how to keep production steady from start to finish.
