His father, who was a contractor, taught him the trade. After graduating from university in Israel with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Ilan continued working in the field of construction in New Jersey while pursui
ng his second degree in Computer Software, from Montclair State University. After moving to California, Ilan committed his time to establishing a general construction business.
